The loud blaring of an alarm echoed through the small bedroom, by it didn't matter, for the only occupant in the room was wide awake already.
Jackson Wang didn't sleep that night, nor did he for the past nine months. Not since he got kicked in the balls by his cute little Mochi and found his note on his desk. The one word that ever since, placed a rock in his gut.
"Goodbye."
What did that mean? Where was Jimin going? Was he really leaving?
The week Jimin disappeared, it was Jackson who spread the rumors of Jimin's disappearance. He had just told his friends about the note he found in the smaller's room. From there, everyone in the school interpreted it for themselves. Somewhere along the way, people started saying that Jimin had took his own life because of all the bullying.
That was really a punch in the gut.
Now Jackson wakes up for his first day of Second Year. He sticks to a new routine, his eyes forever dull, like the dead. He wakes up early, exercises in his small room, then starts to get ready for school. The internet had lied, saying physical activity would help him get past the heavy feeling inside his chest. A liar. Just like him.
Arriving at school, the crowd was quite, all except for the newer energetic freshman coming in. Jimin's disappearance really had that affect on everyone. He doesn't care, Jackson just keeps walking.
He stops at the board, stating what class he is to be in. What he saw made his mouth run dry.
Right there near the middle, was the name in fine print:
"Park Jimin"
Guess the school didn't take him out of the record yet. Then again, no missing person was filed for him. The old hag back at the foster home refused to call it in. Stupid bitch.
Jackson wasn't the only one affected by the reappearance of the name, his friends, Jimin's other tormentors, waited with baited breath. Each of them filed into the classroom with the same question on their mind.
"Is he coming back?"
Now it was only Jackson in the hallway, along with one other person. Taking a glance, he decided it best to ignore the other; Jeon Jungkook. Jackson knew the quarterback loved Jimin. He knew that Jimin loved Jungkook. Which is actually why they're all in this clusterfuck.
"Jack Jack!" Jimin squealed, jumping on the other's bed and causing it to creak under the extra weight.
"Aish! You're gonna break my bed! And I thought I told you to stop calling me that..." Jackson sighed, throwing his magazine to the side.
"Ireallywantotellyousomethingandivebeenthinkingalotandivedecidedtotrustyousopleasegeremeoutbecauseithinkivefalleninlovelikejeonjungkookasinthehottestguyonourfootballteamjustaskedmeoutandimdying OH MY GOD HOLD ME!" The smaller nearly passed out from all his talking, Jackson nearly getting whiplash from the speed.
"Okay..." the larger held the bridge of his nose lightly, "repeat that again. But slowly."
"You know how we've been friends since like, forever?" Jimin asked, smiling brightly. Jackson chuckled, patting the other's head. "Yeah?"
"Then you have to promise not to tell a soul." Jackson looked into the sparkling eyes of the cute boy in front of him and agreed immediately.
"Pinky promise."
"Pinky promise."
If only he knew just how soon he'd be breaking that promise...
"Okay, so you know how we were like, just talking about crushes and sexuality and all that deep shit the other day?" Jimin asked, throwing himself back on Jackson's pillow.
"Please don't break my bed, but go on." Jackson sighed, laying down next to his friend.
"And we talked, hypothetically, if we were to date a guy-" "Jimin just spit it out already."
"Jeon Jungkook confesses his feelings for me." The smaller squeaked, pure joy radiating from his tiny body.
Jackson on the other hand, didn't know what to feel. He just knew he wasn't happy about it. Especially since Jimin seemed so excited to date Jungkook. Jackson never thought he was homophobic, but his gut feeling says otherwise now.
"So you're going to... date him now? As in... you two guys dating." Jackson muttered. "Yep! I'm so excited, I really love him. I've actually kind of had a crush since elementary to be honest with you." Jimin sighed, holding his chest with a soft smile on his face.
A sudden anger had filled Jackson, he didn't even know where it came from. So he took it out on Jimin.
"You're joking right? Jimin you're not really gonna date Jeon Jungkook are you?" The anger barely subsided to slight panic. Jimin seemed to shrivel in on himself a little. "Is that a problem?" He asked a small voice.
"Get out Jimin."
After that, Jackson had started the bullying. He arranged it so Jimin would be in the classroom alone when the other kids would walk in. He watched from afar as Jungkook walked in and slapped Jimin. He smiled as Jungkook tore himself apart in the hallway as Jimin was torn apart by those around him.
It's amazing what a rumor can do, twisted by those it reaches to something ugly that seems to last an eternity.
Jackson just knew he was mad that day. And he mistook it for being mad at Jimin, mad that Jimin was gay and that maybe Jackson was homophobic.
But now, now he knows better. Jackson wasn't mad at Jimin. He was mad at Jungkook, mad at the idea of Jungkook taking Jimin. The idea of Jimin liking Jungkook since elementary school, when Jackson was also there in elementary school. Because he wanted it to be him. He wanted Jimin to love him.
And now Jimin's gone. All because of Jackson.
So now, the heart broken teenager, depressed with his own self loathing, walked into the classroom. He only stopped to look back at Jungkook once. The football player was staring at Jimin's name with tears in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, I broke the promise."
RIP
