Third POV
A hot red tongue darts out keeping its hold underneath the block of wood, pink heavenly lips wrap around all but what his two fingers hold, sucking and sucking
"Grayson!"
He turns in his seat closest to the edge, grip strengthening around the length of his $5,000 violin, bow laid across his shared stand of two
"Tune please?" The instructor asks nicely
Grayson swallows lightly, eyes flicking up and over to see Ethan's ready to play
He sniffs before standing tall in front of the rest of his classmates
"A for Brass!"
~•~
A strict rendition of Russian Sailors Dance is their first song they play, it's Grayson's favorite by far, close with Warrior Legacy coming second, they weren't necessarily hard pieces just sounded amazing, it was quick and nice to hear, the energy and volume, the excitement of the whole piece
The only time Grayson's eyes weren't set on Ethan was when they played, he was the concert master after all, a well deserved position he got his sophomore year, he could've had it freshman year, he was better than the one at the time, and everyone else not that he would mention it, but it was his freshman year so
He's been playing ever since first grade, austere lessons both at home and throughout school, a virtuoso, he loves it, he asked his parents for it, they said yes thinking it'd last a couple days and he'd give up or find playing with his friends or something better, now they attend all of his concerts and recitals, recording every second to post on social media and send to the rest of their family who couldn't make it
Ethan enjoyed playing the oboe, has been since sixth grade and is the only one in the orchestra that plays it so, he's kind of depended on sometimes, like every day really, he lives for those short two minutes, the cute little concert master stands below everyone and looks at him as he asks for an A for the same group of instruments to be tuned
He's had a crush on the boy of the same grade, they've been at the same school since high school, his first day he saw Grayson come in with the hard case, set it down to reveal a lavished wood material being his violin, he's changed it since then, still just as impressive
Right now they were getting to the ending, the speed was intensifying the closer they got, everyone's instruments going off in a flurry before it all stopped, everyone paused in their place for a couple seconds as the sound resonated against the walls and crooked ceiling, the instructor put her hands down as all followed placing them on their laps as she talked about things that needed to be worked on, asking the bunch of players if they had any comments
Ethan's gaze drifted to the front row, head peaking over the top of his stand to see the brown flop of hair, his fingers were still held in position around his bow ready to play, he just can't stop can he
Ethan once saw him play piece after piece in a recital they had where he played three songs and helped a couple others out too, he had such stamina Ethan thought, he wonders if it were just in his hands or if it coursed through the whole of him
Ethan was pretty good with his mouth too, could play for a while and had great breath control, he's always wanted to play or 'play' with Grayson, though freshman year it was more innocent than what it'd blossom to be now
They had no other classes together sadly, they'd see one another walking opposite sides of the hall sometimes or arrive to this class at the same time and smile or just look away, Grayson did at least, Ethan could never keep his eyes away, Grayson was a tad bit more shy, only stare when he knew or thought Ethan wasn't aware, he usually wasn't but Ethan has caught a pair of eyes looking his way, didn't think much of it though, just thought it was one of those moments when one persons just scanning the room and so are you and you catch each other's sight and both look away or one thinks they were staring when they weren't, but those "moments" were never just scans but both trying to catch a glimpse of one another
