Yes, I'm still alive!
I'm sorry I haven't updated lately, my life has been way too busy for my taste. I have actually been so busy, that I haven't met up with my SO for over a month. T^T
So here is the next chapter, it's short, I know, but even this was hard to fit in. I also didn't have time to proof read it, so prepare for an assault of typos.
But yeah, I hope you enjoy anyway.
Alexander’s POV
The sun was low on the sky, bathing everything in deep, warm colours. It had become a habit now for me to look at the sun when I wanted to know what time it was. Not like I could look at a clock or anything. I sighed and glanced towards the door again. It was unnerving to know that some random pervert was standing out there supposedly guarding me. I’d seen him. And he did not look as strong as my Siobhan. He was short and dangly with skinny arms and legs.
I had already looked through the stack of books I’d been given - apparently the translator bangle couldn’t translate text, because it was all ancient Greek to me. So it had limits. Always good to know. It probably couldn’t translate anything I wrote either. A verbal translator only.
On the table in the corner an assortment of games and cards had been laid out. Unfortunately most of them seemed to require more than one player, and I didn’t know the rules to most of them either. Leaving me with absolutely nothing to do but contemplate my rotten luck, how I was going to get home, and looking out the window. It got seriously boring after the first hour.
A demanding knock made me straighten and quickly rearrange the folds of my midnight blue dress. A broad-shouldered man stepped inside. He was of this place’s average height - about 160 cm for men as far as I could see - with short, dirty-blonde hair and a beak-like nose. He wasn’t unappealing, simply had some very unique and odd features which I couldn’t quite decide whether I liked or not.
“Good evening, Lady Alexander,” he greeted and bowed his head, it seemed that no one here could pronounce my name. The man’s voice was deep and hoarse, like he’d inhaled too much smoke. His lips curled into a small, forced smile. “My name is Marcus son of Morcus, and I thought I’d come and keep you company.”
Keep me company? Yeah right. I kept my eyes from narrowing to glare at him only by pure determination. This guy looked to be in his late forties and he seemed just a bit too fishy for my taste. I forced myself to smile at him and look confused.
He bought it.
“Do you mind if I sit?” he asked while sitting down on the chair by the game table. Why’d you even ask if you were just gonna do it? I kept the polite smile going as I watched him. He was wearing a long robe and pants of a soft-looking material. Had to be expensive. The glimmer of a gold necklace backed it up.
“I saw you arrive from the tower. A rough ride to put a lady such as you on. Where are you from, my beautiful?” I kept silent and tipped my head a bit to the side like my mom’s stupid Chihuahua did when you talked to it. “So it’s true you don’t understand. Guess that’ll make you an even more perfect woman, not having to listen to your mindless chatter all day,” he said, his voice betraying the offensive words, and chuckled warmly.
