A silly little thing featuring Sarah Jane, The Doctor, and some guest appearances from a different fandom.
Vworp, vworp.
"Doctor, where are we going?" Sarah Jane asked, walking into the console room.
"Well..." Her friend started, standing up from his work. "I thought it would be fun to visit New York in 1899. "
"Wasn't that the year of the strike against Pulitzer by the newsies?"
"Yes!"
Soon, they landed.
"Well, it looks like Earth!" Sarah exclaimed.
"Of course it's Earth! When have we ever landed in the wrong place or time?" The Doctor said, stepping out of the TARDIS.
"Oh, there's a long list of the times we've landed in the wrong place. Or time!"
Before the Doctor could say anything else, the two friends saw a group of scruffy looking kids doing complicated flips and singing.
"It's a fine life, carryin' the banner through it all!" The boys sang.
"Um...." A weird thought was brewing in Sarah Jane's mind.
"A mighty fine life, carryin' the banner tough and tall!"
The Doctor stared.
"Here's a headline! Newsies on a mission! Kill the competition! Sell the next edition! We'll be out there carryin' the banner!"
Sarah tugged on the Doctor's long coat sleeve.
"Doctor, I think we landed in a musical."
Her tall friend laughed. "I suppose we did! Shall we stick around and watch the show?"
"Oh, why not?"
And that's how the Doctor and Sarah Jane ended up being part of the Newboys' Strike in 1899.
