🗣Heads up🗣
•This story has almost the same themes as my story 'Held Hostage' it's gonna be a little similar in some ways•Also, Katherine will be viewed as the bad guy in this story. And Jospeh is the good one. (Sorry Katherine)
Flashback:
𝔗hey were sitting in the dark, in front of their medium sized TV—Michael and some of his siblings. Their heads held high, their eyes glued relentlessly to the screen
Michael was 17, one of the youngest and the most curious of his family's actions.
Their heads turned as Jospeh came through the front door, holding a bag full of money. It was a typical action but he still managed to cause eyebrows to furrow.
"Whats all this?" Randy asked, making his attention go off the TV and onto fully Joseph. He leaned his weight onto the palms of his hands.
Joseph looked at the kids with urgent eyes, bringing his finger to his lips to shush them. "This is the only way we can provide for ourselves. This ain't good what we do, but it's for the best. And I don't want you kids goin' out and doin' this too." He told them, turning the plastic bag upside down, spilling wads of money onto the carpet
They gasped simultaneously and looked at it with awe. Michael looked back up at Jospeh curiously. He was a little confused as to what this money was for, and how Joseph got it. But it didn't matter. As long as they had it.
"Jospeh are we gonna go homeless?" He suddenly asked, and Joseph looked at him with uneasiness. "No boy. We got this. As long as your older brothers do what they need to do, and we keep this business goin'."
"Lets just move outta here." He passively said
"Movin ain't gon get us nowhere. Your mama-"
"Mama's barely here." Michael muttered, crossing his arms while looking the other way. Katherine came through the door, making them all look at her now and she sighed due to their stares.
"Why do y'all look at me like that everytime I come in?" She questioned
"Where you been goin at night?" Jospeh inquired and she kissed her teeth, dismissing his question
"I have some things we needa discuss." She said, leaning against the wooden dinner table and they exchanged looks. Those words were always uneasy to hear.
