Tweeks POV
I don't know anyone in this class. Then again that was what I was expecting before I even walked into the room. It looks like shit. Its clear to me that this is gonna be my hell for the rest of the year. I hate the posters, the room set out, the colours and the teacher.
I really should stop being so negative. I'll make some more friends...hopefully, I need to have as many as I can because sooner or later my secret's bound to get out and I could do with less enemies.
Im not paying attention to the teacher but maybe if I listen I'll actually find some interest in whatever the topic is.
"So, as I was saying after that gas struck our town we all changed but why did we all gain different powers? Why are we all so differently effected? and most importantly how the hell did it work?." Ah I get it this teacher is just like the one at my old school. A wild theorist who goes crazy on her own thoughts. But then I assume that's the whole point it's to get us to think but sometimes they literally ask questions which can't be answered.
"Does anyone have anything to add." The teacher asks. Ok I think I understand all I have to do is come up with a question and add onto it. Then I'll get good grades.
I raise my hand and the teacher motions me to speak. "What If we were all slowly becoming what we are now before the gas even struck." I say without stuttering. It's like when I'm confident my stutter disappears. "That's very interesting.....(checks seating plan)Tweek could you elaborate."
The whole class turns to face me. "Sure, well everyone should have noticed by now that your abilities, powers whatever you wanna c-call em are somehow tied to your personality or nature." I can tell that everyone is intrigued by my contribution. "Also it's clear that the toxins got into our DNA but how? And w-what should we call it a virus? A mutation? Magic even? What is it? If the rest of the world thought we'd died then why didn't this thing kill us was it supposed to?" See I know how to win over teachers, just pretend to like their class. "Tweek I don't even know what to say your thoughts on this are so eye opening I love it." She praises.
I just smile a bit I don't think it was all such a big thing. I'm good at sharing my thoughts when I want to.
"Anyway, I think that I should add on to Tweeks explanation. So Pip can you come to the front." Wait what is she doing. Oh no now students are gonna blame me for being picked on. I'm dead. No no no. I'm over reacting. Am I? Aggh.
"Oh miss d-do I have to?." A British voice says.
"Come on Pip please co-operate I'll give you extra credit." She's pestering this kid. I personally think a teacher should respect a students wishes.
"Ok miss....jolly good then." The voice says in like this sad tone.
A short blond walks past my desk. Well I say short but he's about my height. Eww I can smell that scent I don't like it I'm being mean and mentally judging him. And people can read my mind gah.
Anyway let's venture away from my stupid thoughts.
So I can't tell the kid is a boy or a girl. That's not an insult. Really it isn't. It's just the hair is shoulder length, the figure is feminine and Pip is a gender neutral name so I'm stumped. But I'm not concerned about my class mates gender, no that doesn't matter to me. What I do want to know is if he's more human than well....cat.
Yep, I think I need to explain this properly.
Pip has some physical traits of a cat This type of thing isn't very common I mean I would know.......and before you start asking no I am not a cat or the fucking Easter bunny. No further comment.
Anyway back to pip, I think it's called feline physiology it's where you have some functions or features of a cat.
So like I said earlier Is he more cat then human?
In the time I was thinking this other kid is in front of the class. He has this
Fiery red hair  and I recognise him because he's one of the kids Craig told me about. I didn't recognise anyone before I guess I'm not observant enough. From what I gathered he's smart. But anyone can be smart can't they?
"What is the reason behind asking me to be present in front of the class?" The kid questions. He just seems like a big headed ass. "Well, Kyle I know for a fact that you already know but I'll explain. So Pip here has a physical change, the gas effected your brain and we need someone else." The teacher says scanning the class.
"Ah perfect Esther come here."
The girl stands up, she's pretty and looks like that kid I met earlier Kevin. She has the same kind of outfit but her coat is a darker blue and she seems a bit on the edge like me.
"Ah see at least Esther is co-operative for once..." Esther groans.
As she walks past some objects seem to be pushed out of the way. She has sparks kind of bouncing off of her hair and she's balling up her hands.
She must have a temper, either that or she's insecure or worried but I could be wrong.
Esther doesn't stand to close to the other people next to her and soon I know why.
Some idiot throws a scrunched up piece of paper at her but it's just held
in front of  her by some sort of energy and I'm assuming it's electricity or something like that.
"Esther, you don't need your shield up" the teacher says reassuringly.
Esther gives her an infuriated look and a wave of electricity is visibly rushing up and down her body.
The teacher looks disturbed and gets on with the lesson.
"Ok, well class as you can see Pip, Esther and Kyle are all different. A physical change to the body, a change in the brain function and a power which can create a physical element."
"What's the point of this." Kyle mumbles.
"Well lets see, before this gas Esther was tempered and destructive, Kyle you were very smart and a know it all" "Hey" Kyle yells. "And pip you were quiet and harmless yet vicious at times" she concludes.
God this teacher is so bitchy.
"Could you all demonstrate." The teacher says. It's not a question she says it like a statement.
The whole class groans. I'm assuming that she does this stuff a lot. Wait does she use students for her research? Jesus.
Kyle and Esther look at pip expectantly.
He sighs and extends his claws, the grey eyes he had turn green like a cat and he throws his hat off so we all have a clear view of his ears. His tail was already out it's grey and fluffy.
"Very good pip you may return to your seat." The teacher states.
As he walks back he slowly goes back to 'normal'.
30 minutes left of the lesson ugh.
Kyle says some stuff about the teacher that she clearly wanted to keep private so she immediately sends  him to the principle. Although it was her own fault. Then Esther makes all the lights go out but lights herself up with her electric glow. She is told to fix them which she does seconds later.
"Now I'd like you to get into groups and discuss different powers and such." The teacher is clearly fed up of teaching.
Ugh I don't know anyone.
"Hey you can work with us if you like"
A soft voice says that I don't recognise.
