Walking past stray kid's meeting room downstairs I realized that it was cracked open. I was supposed to be going to the minho's room to get my nail clipper that he borrowed the other day and never returned but obviously got distracted, when I heard an unfamiliar voice of an older man and my curiosity took over.
Leaning in to put my eye in the crack I see all the boys sitting at a long table. An older man in his early thirties , dark black hair slicked all the way to the back began to speak. "Twenty million is too much for it" he says as is if it was so absurd. "If it's a necessity then you will have no choice but to pay twenty million for it" Chris seemed slightly irritated if you didn't know him as well as I did you wouldn't be able to tell but the boys and I knew him very well and could tell he really wanted this conversation to end.
I remember Chris saying that this meeting was so important but he wasn't closing the deal. In fact the man was actually packing up to leave. I couldn't let this happen, I couldn't just sit there when I know how crucial this could be.
So I slowly opened door and walked in "um excuse me" I didn't even know what I was going to say but I was gonna bullshit my way through and hope that none of them noticed. "Who is this?" The man questioned I could tell he really didn't want me to be there. "Kinely I told you to s-" "I know, I know , just please let me talk" I tried to say calmly so I wouldn't set him off since I knew he was already agitated.
I took a good look around to see all eyes were on me including the older man. I looked at Chris who was starring at me with his arms crossed . Then I took a look at Hyunjin who was smiling brightly at me. 'You got this' he mouthed at me while giving me a thumbs up.
That little bit of encouragement was all I needed to get me going. "What are you buying from these nine young men today?" The raven haired man tilted his head and me almost as if he was inspecting me, seeing if I was worthy enough to talk to. "Missiles" was the only thing he said before he too was crossing his arms.
I hummed in response and raised an eyebrow at him, looking him up and down. "And these missiles, can you get them anywhere else?" He was almost taken aback from my sudden assertiveness but he continues on. "Well.." he starts and places his arms behind his back. "I've been looking for them everywhere but no one will sell it to me secretively due to th being illegal except for these boys right here." He sighs as finally sitting back down.
He places his hands on the table and links them together. "Then that means in a way these boys are doing you a favor right? " he nods his head yes in response which meant I could keep talking. "Since they are doing you such a great favor out the kindness of their heart that means that you should return the favor by giving them the set price they originally asked for" there we sat starring at each other in silence. You could practically cut the tension with a knife.
I could tell that by him starring at me that he was trying to break my confidence but if he only knew just a sliver of how stubborn I could be, then he'd know just how badly he'd loose at this game. Once he saw I wasn't backing down he finally broke and looked at Chan. He then smiled, the first time I've seen him smile since I've laid eyes on him which I was almost sure this man was capable of doing.
"Who is she to you?" He questioned seemingly genuine about knowing. "She's my girlfriend, sir" Chris looked at me proudly grinning from ear to ear. "I like her, you should keep her" he nods his head in approval then suddenly clapped his hands. A man that was in a suit and glasses that I didn't even know was in the room appeared wheeling in bags and bags of money.
I look over at my bestfriend Jisung who's eyes were now wide. "You're incredible" he mouthed at me, I smiled at him because I loved how amazing this guy was. I've gotten close to all the boys but Felix and jisung have became my best-friends, and these boys have became overall like a family to me.
Chris told Changbin and IN to go help the man load the giant missiles onto his trucks. "I suggest you let her in more meetings she's a tough cookie. You've got yourself a good one" the tall older man winks, he then turns on his heels to walk away. "Oh , it was quite a pleasure doing business with you" was the last thing he said before leaving.
No one dare to break the silence, we only exchanged looks and smiles. "I'm just gonna say it" jisung stood up as if he was making the biggest announcement of his life. " That was amazing! Needless to say that we need her" he briefly points at me before slamming his hand down on the table. "He's right Chan! Kinley could be beneficial to the team" Seugmin added agreeing with The blue haired boy with his squirrel like charms.
Chris just shook his head "Kinley I want to thank you for helping out today it truly means a lot but I'm sorry , from now on listen to me when I say stay out of our meetings" Chris says sternly and I could tell that this was strike one and I didn't know if I wanted anymore strikes than that.
"Chris come on" Felix's Australian accent really shined as he tried to convince his Australian buddy to let me help. " I wanna help Chris! plus it looks like you kindve need me" I sassily cross my arms and I saw the squint he gives when his patience is running thin. "I don't need you getting hurt I can't let that happen to you I'm sorry" His features softened with the thought of me, his most prized possession getting hurt.
"She won't get hurt because we'll protect her right guys?" Hyunjin assured him while the other boys agree. He stood there completely outnumbered and it was the very first time the boys were all going against-his wishes, I could tell he didn't know how to handle it.
"Maybe" he didn't want to give a direct answer, Chris was still being almost as stubborn as I but once he saw that we weren't backing down he groaned in frustration. "Fine but if anything happens to her you're all dying a slow and painful death" ignoring his threats the boys all cheered happy that I was apart of their world.
The happiness wash away when the sudden thought of my father. What would think if he ever found me? I would hate to see the sad look on his face when he has to take his little girl to jail. The only joy he had left in his world stripped away from him. Then I started wondering if he was ok after me leaving. I thought I was happy about this but now I wasn't so sure anymore. Little did I know that I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Not even a clue..
A few hours later Hyunjin called me through the speaker into the back yard. He wouldn't tell me why he just told me to come out because he had 'a surprise for me' whatever that meant. Once I arrived outside I see two race cars one blue and on red.
Hyunjin was leaning on the blue with his foot on the seat and his arm on the top of the race car. "Ready to get your ass kicked?" He smirked while throwing me a helmet which I surprisingly caught. "Ha! Well see about that" I clipped on the helmet and was ready to leave his ass in the dust.
