"It tried to kill your daughter, Arthur!" My mother exclaimed, still eyeing down the beast while it sat limp on the floor of my father's office.
"Carmen wasn't harmed beyond a simple few hours of resting, and I believe she can fend for herself on that note. On another, we should at least give it some time to regain itself and figure out what's going on," said my father.
I sat in the corner of the room with my aunt cleaning the few scrapes and bruises the beast inflicted upon me. I was silent for the reason my father was right. I wasn't damaged completely. Maybe a broken rib, but nothing I couldn't handle. This, however, did not make my mom happy. She stepped away from my father, clear disapproval in her body language, and came over to me. She rubbed the top of my head and walked from the office. She needed time to think over the decision.
I flicked my eyes over to my father after mom left. He stood by the window. The moon illuminated his facial features to a perfect point. His slender face was lightened and his brown hair, stuck evenly over his forehead, seemed to glow in the dark light.
"Carmen." He called.
"Yes?"
"Go find Amelia, and bring her back to bed with you. The animal is contained. I'll inform you of the well being of the beast in the morning."
"Goodnight, father."
I stood from the chair I sat and began to exit the room when I heard the faintest sound of: "I'm sorry."
Then I closed the door and shut out the world with my own thoughts.
