"So you really did join those idiots?" Horrid_Night gave you an annoyed sigh, "be that way, I didn't need your assistance after all."

The dream felt like it lasted forever, you were stuck here with probably the most feared person on the planet. Horrid_Night's faithful Operatives were nearly invisible, all you could ever see was their eyes through the void.

On the occasion that the Night Operatives do communicate with you, they only ever thought about harming you, killing you, sacrificing you, devouring you... the list goes on.

The Director of the Nights gave up the silent treatment after what must've been hours of intense silence, "you do know... that Great_Day is not as he seems?"

You weren't expecting conversation, but you definitely welcomed it, "pardon?"

"The "Great_Day" he is showing you right now is not who he really is," Horrid_Night explained, very vaguely if you may add. "I'm sorry—I don't understand."

"You shouldn't trust him," she added, strangely enough, even the Night Operatives' background chittering was ceased. You broke out into a sideways grin, holding in your laughter at the irony.

"You, the villain, are telling me that I shouldn't trust my own leader? You're trying to manipulate me! I know it!" You snapped. It felt good to have some sort of control in the situation.

The Night Leader was quiet, and for a second you started to regret arguing back at her, fearing for your wellbeing. Horrid_Night turned to you, a scowl present on her dark face, "you're so lucky I can't hurt you right now."

She still continued on with her point, "riddle me this; if he's so trustworthy, why did he knock you unconscious?" You frowned, playing with the material of your training uniform, "I... well, I... uh... I-I really don't know...?"

"He's 'fixing' you right now," Horrid_Night shook her head with disapproval. You scoffed in your head, 'fixing me? Great_Day is neutering me?' you almost bursted out into giggles at the humorous thought before you realized the direness of the moment.

She hummed before going on, "he's messing with your brain, in a literal sense. He's reprogramming you to be a war machine, built to serve the Days Union. It's what the other Day Operatives are, after all." Now you were intrigued, "the others are like that?"

"They were never human. They have no brain, they are stupid, mindless robots with only the thought to serve their leader," her tone grew angrier with every word, "... Othollo, the original Horrid_Night, started the Darkness Virus to destroy them all. I never agreed to that, I would've never agreed to that!"

Pursing your lips, you spoke carefully. You didn't want to anger the Night Leader any more than now, "but what about your Operatives? Are they not robots too?"

Horrid_Night shook her head. The crowd of Night Operatives were murmuring with deep, hushed voices. "They were all once human, only partially artificial due to serious injuries—but they're more human than you."

You ignored the subtle jab. If the Night Operatives were once human, then why does Cheerless_Night exist? Humans have their happy moments, there's no way that Cheerless_Night lived a life of... well, cheerlessness.

Before you could ask, you felt a slight headache start forming on the side of your head. You pressed your hand against it to hopefully calm it.

You could hear the jumbled voices of the Night Operatives discussing something unintelligible. Horrid_Night exhaled, "looks like you're waking up. Whatever, don't think I'm warming up to you. I will never enjoy seeing your dumb face, ever."

With those final, heartwarming words of farewell, your eyes were penetrated with a bright light. You hissed and used your weak arm to shield your vision. You could see people standing around you.

You felt the surface you were laying on, definitely the same hospital bed from Benevolent_Day's hospital.

"Are they awake?"
"I dunno."
"There, poke them with this."

You shot upwards when you felt a pinching pain on your right leg. You glared at whatever did that, seeing an empty syringe positioned close to you being held by an Operative wearing a purple uniform. He smiled apologetically, "at least you're up."

The next person you saw was Emotionless_Day. You cowered deeper against the hospital bed, just seeing him made you feel... enraged.

"Get up, [LOW RANK], I have more [IMPORTANT] things to do than watch you be [LAZY]," his tone of authority made you grumble as you sat up.

You noticed Great_Day talking to Benevolent_Day in the doorframe, and you smiled when Benevolent_Day waved to you. Great_Day seemed off, he wasn't smiling anymore. He looked quite bothered by something.

"[WELCOME] to the world, [OPERATIVE] Intrepid_Day."
