"And his face went completely red I swear to god I've never seen him so tomato- ish! ...wait no I don't think I got the right word." Peter chuckled as he recounted his day to Y/n.
She threw her head back in uncontrollable laughter as she walked beside Peter on the sidewalk. He smiled as he glanced over at her beaming face. Ever since Y/n and Peter were just 9 years old, they formed an inseparable bond as Peter's aunt was close friends with Y/n's mother. They had been there for each other through their highs - winning school competitions, hanging with heaps of friends, scoring a date - and their lows - losing a loved one, being bullied, unfairly losing friends, heartbreak, heartbreak and more heartbreak. Although Peter has already been through the heartbreak of losing his parents before Y/n, she helped him with the day to day heartache he suffered. Peter was there for Y/n when her parents split up. Through thick and thin, they could always count on each other.

As they arrived to their destination, Y/n shuffled her bag around to find her keys, and unlocked the door to her home. Peter followed closely behind, although he was just as familiar with the building as his own home, Peter was still timid around Y/n's family. He copied as Y/n kicked off her shoes and ran down the hallway to greet her brother in the lounge. As peter followed suit, he noticed that her brother was home, along with the three of his friends that usually accompanied him.
"Luke, guys! Hi!" Y/n smiled as she raced over to hug her brother and his friends.

Peter stood awkwardly in the corner as he meekly smiled and proceeded to throw a small wave from the corner of the room. "Hi."
The boys smiled back at Peter and greeted him as they usually did and finished their conversation with Y/n.
"Ok well guys please don't be too loud me and Peter have a lot of work to do." Y/n half laughed, half warned.
"But that's the point. Why would we wanna be able to hear two little kids you know... DOING IT" Calum, one of Luke's friends, laughed out, followed by the laughs of the rest of the boys except Luke. Peter turned as bright red as the boy he was just telling Y/n about earlier and stared at the floor praying it would swallow him up. Y/n sighed and dragged Peter out of the corner to her room.
"Keep the door open!" Luke yelled behind them, followed by snickers.

"Sorry about that, they never stop do they!" Y/n smiled, looking into Peter's eyes, forming a warm feeling in his chest.

Peter coughed, trying to cover up how fast his heart was beating. "Oh it's fine, don't worry about it." He assured her, turning to grab his bag. Y/n sat at the desk they often shared and turned to watch Peter pulling out his binder books, hastily turning as he approached the desk and took a seat.

"Sooo..... where should we start?" He asked, looking through his books.

"You know us. Science." Y/n laughed as she playfully nudged his side.
