⌞ xii. | ❝ for the dramatic effect,
y'know.❞ ⌝MANY HAD ALREADY LEFT FOR THE WAKE, only Monica's mom had stayed after the funeral to accompany them for a while. Mrs. Geller walked beside Monica and Ross at the head of the group, while the rest of the gang kept a certain distance to give the family privacy. Everyone except the Gellers also wore sunglasses, and if Cassidy looked at her friends and herself like that, dressed entirely in black and sunglasses covering their eyes, she would think they were a actual gang.
Cassidy just pushed her cat-eye sunglasses back to the bridge of her nose as she always felt like it was slipping as her friends stopped and Mrs. Geller said goodbye to her daughter with the advice to start using night cream. With her eyebrows furrowed, Cassidy looked at her friend's mother, but got distracted when they heard Joey sigh next to them and a muffled voice coming out of his coat.
When he noticed Cassidy and Chandler's skeptical looks on him, Joey looked at his friends questioningly, "What?"
"Joe, why is your coat talking?" she demanded to know, eyes narrowing at him.
Judging, Chandler also looked at his best friend. "Yeah, it sounds remarkably like Brent Mussberger," he remarked.
Joey sighed, but then shrugged, after all, he's been called out and pulled a pocket TV out of the inside pocket of his coat. "Check it out, Giants – Cowboys," he told them and failed to suppress the proud smile that spread on his lips.
Cassidy shook her head over her friend as Chandler asked, "You're watching a football game at a funeral?" He didn't sound surprised, Cassidy wasn't either, after all they've both been living with Joey for a long time now.
"No, it's the pre-game," Joey corrected, shaking his head. "I'm gonna watch it at the reception."
"I'd ask what's wrong with you if I wouldn't be so scared of the answer," Cassidy confessed, and Joey wasn't sure whether she was being sarcastic or not.
Chandler looked at Joey flatly. "You are a frightening, frightening man."
Finally the trio caught up with the rest of the group and just watched Rachel step into the mud with her new 'Paolo'-shoes and Ross grab her arm before she could have fallen. Phoebe, meanwhile, had taken off her sunglasses to look up at the sky. "God, what a great day," she commented, and Cassidy wanted to agree with her as she noticed the distraught looks her friends were shooting at the blonde. "What?Weather-wise!"
"It really is," Cassidy nodded in agreement and smiled as she closed her eyes and turned her face to the sky, immediately feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin. Involuntarily a smile spread on her lips.
"I know, uh, the air, the—the trees," Ross pulled her from the moment of peaceful silence and caused Cassidy to reopen her eyes. "even though Nana's gone there's—there's something almost, uh ... I dunno, almost life--" He broke off abruptly and only when he groaned loudly did Cassidy notice that Ross wasn't walking in front of her anymore – instead he layin the hole at her feet.
