Mate

As your last strands of hair were neatly tucked into the fancy hairdo Ray had put together, you could hear people arriving. The testosteron was overwhelming and so were your feelings. You could hear the workers running around, probably bringing food and drinks around the castle. You heard the music start, a beautiful mix between violins, piano's and many other instruments. 

''Are you nervous miss?''

''Ray...''

''(Y/N)'' She cleared her throat 

''Of course I am, also very confused'' You stared at yourself in the mirror. It was hard to wrap your head around the changes. You had accepted to never fall in love, to never marry, the marrying part will surely happen, the falling in love was a hopeful thought. 

''Just be yourself, the man will be throwing themselves at you''

you sighed ''They might, but how many of them will do it for the right reasons?'' 

The two of you made the finishing touches. As you heard you father start a speech you slowly started walking downstairs.

''Ladies and gentleman, thank you all for travelling so far for the chance to meet and unite kingdoms. My daughter and I welcome all of you into our castle, drinks and food will be served in the main dining hall as the music will continue to play here. So without wasting any more of your time, please welcome my daughter, my princess-- (Y/N)''.

The big doors in front of you were opened by the servants as you slowly made your way inside looking around you. You weren't feeling insecure with your look, you actually loved the way you looked tonight, the long navy blue dress that sparkled just enough to make it catch your eye but not blind anyone was perfect. No, the thing that made you insecure were the many males standing in the room, staring at you up and down. 

''Come here, dear'' your father held his hand out to you as you made your way to him.
''Would you like to say a few words?''

''Thank you all for joining us on this lovely evening, I am hoping to meet all of you tonight, please enjoy'' 
You hadn't really prepared a speech but figured this would be enough. Your father escorted you to a big chair that was placed at the end of the room, where you happily sat down. People made their way over to you one by one, introducing themselves. Some were just creepy others rude, a few of them quite charming. But you couldn't help but only give of a smile when Yoongi made his way towards you. 

''Prince Yoongi'' 

''Princess'' he gave you a charming smile as he asked for your hand, you happily gave it as he kissed the back of it. 
''I hope you are enjoying your night''

''It just got a little better'' 

A small chuckle left his mouth as he heard your flirty comment. ''I won't waist much of your time, I was just wondering if you would accompany me for a dance''

You pushed your lips together in a straight line, your entire mind and body were screaming YES but you quickly glanced at your father who was seated next to you, looking simply annoyed.

''I am afraid I have a few more people to meet, what about I will find you once I finish?''

He gave you the smile you loved so much, the one that showed when he wasn't able to control his happiness ''That sounds--''

''mate'' 

your eyes strained away for the adorable smile to the male that was standing behind him. 
''I knew I would find you at some point, but never imagined I would be so lucky for it to be a princess'' 

Your confused expression was well placed, and as you glanced back at Yoongi you saw him looking at the male with and angry face. 
Your father stood up clapping his hands ''Young man, that is amazing'' Of course he would be happy about this. 
The male moved forward brushing against Yoongi's shoulder to get to you, Yoongi's growl being audible for every vampire in the room. 

''Let me introduce myself princess, my name is Kim Jong-in but please call me Kai. I am the prince of Aril'' He grabbed your hand, the same as Yoongi had just kissed, and followed the same action. You were flabbergasted 
''U-uhh, I am sorry, I am (Y/N)''

''No worries, I know, we will make a fabulous paring''

''Excuse me?'' Your eyes widened at his statement

''You are my mate, I am a prince you are a princess, not only can we be together as we are destined to do, but we will also unite kingdoms, it is the perfect scenario''

''I-i-i will be right back'' You glanced quickly at Yoongi who was sadly looking at the floor, then to your father who you had never seen so happy in your entire life and quickly made your way to your bedroom. 
You entered your bathroom and held onto the sink, you had the need to splash water on your face but with all the make up you were wearing you decided against it. 

''What the actual fuck is happening'' You stared at yourself in your mirror unable to place your thoughts somewhere. 

''(Y/N)? are you here?''

''Bathroom, Ray'' 

She opened the door and looked at your stressed posture, ''what happened?'' 

''Some random guy just called me his mate''

she looked confused ''random guy?''

''yes, a prince of--- something, I was speaking to Yoongi and he just came up to me'' 

''That's odd'' 

''Tell me about it'' you raised your eyebrows in annoyance 

''No I mean, I know about werewolves and mates, but wouldn't you have the same-- mate-- feeling?'' 
You looked at her, soaking in the words she just spoke.
''Can he actually be your mate, if you don't get the same feeling?'' 

''I don't know Ray'' you straightened yourself and stopped staring at your reflection
''But that is actually an interesting thought'' 

''Oh no- what are you planning?'' 

''Nothing much, I need to go back'' you walked passed her before turning around ''Thanks for the information''

You made your way back to the party, immediately seeing your father in the corner speaking to that Kai guy, happily speaking and Yoongi on the other side of the room drinking what seemed like an alcoholic beverage. You couldn't help it, you knew the right thing to do was go back the your so called mate and get to know him, but your entire magnate like body pulled you to Yoongi. You made your way towards him standing still staring at his back, clearing your throat to let him know about your presence. He slowly turned around, looking colder than he had done before making you feel nervous in an instant.

''I promised you a dance'' he put his drink down and nodded, offering you his arm which you happily took, guiding you towards the dance floor. 
It felt different to be around him now, he placed his hand  in between your shoulder blades and held his other hand open for you to grab. Once you were positioned he started moving. You tried looking at him, but he was looking everywhere except for you. 

''Yoongi?''

''Hmm?''

''Are you alright?''

''tsk, I am happy for you'' 

''What do you mean?''

he finally looked at you, deep into your eyes, almost angry.
''You found your mate, that's perfect'' 

You looked at both of your feet, slowly moving perfectly in sync. He grabbed your chin to make you look up ''Don't stare at the floor as we dance, it's rude'' 

''I don't know what to say'' 

''You don't have to say anything, you don't even need to give me this dance, I will leave tomorrow'' 

''But--''

He let go of you in a quick motion, making your entire chest sting, it was hurting more than anything you had ever felt. 

''Don't do this to me (Y/N), it's unfair'' He looked at you for no more than a second, before bowing in front of you and leaving the room. You walked after him, needing to talk to him. But a hand grabbed your wrist and made you look back. 

''May i have this dance?'' The Kai guy stood there, smiling widely and you noticed your father eye you behind him. 

You slowly nodded and let him hold you.
