Chapter 1: Step Losers

"Mija! get me another beer!" Justin, Jenny's step father, called while watching the game with his two sons, Derek and Jeramy

Jenny nodded and walked to the fridge to grab three bottles and gave them to her, unrelated, family. her mom married into the family, she passed away when Jenny was only 7 ,Justin didn't care about Jenny, he just wanted a maid, and she never fight back, because the three boys were much bigger then her

She gave one to Justin, threw over another to Derek, and handed one to Jeramy, he looked up from the tv to meet her green eyes

"I'm good" he smiled and looked at the Tv, she smiled and went back to her studying on the dining rooms table

"Andale (come on) mijo! (son) be a man!" Justin smirked, Jeramy shook and stared at the screen "suit yourself" he shrugged and chugged down his beer

"Bro" Derek whispered to Jeramy "take it" he handed him his bottle

"Seriously, i don't want any"

"Come on" he chuckled, Jeramy stood up from his seat and walked away

"I'm going to my room" he explained then looked at Jenny "good night sis" he smiled, Jenny smiled and nodded before he went upstairs

"Mija!" Justin called, she stood up and faced him, he handed her his empty bottle "i'm feeling generous tonight because we're winning the game, so give us another beer and you can go to your room" he smirked, she wanted to smile for finally being allowed to go to her room, but she will never show any sign of emotion to him or Derek

"Thank you" she nodded and went to the kitchen to give the boys their beer, after the exchange, she walked away, but Justin took her hand

"Oh! before you go" he smirked and pointed at his cheek "how about un beso (a kiss)?" she pretended to sneeze in her hand, he looked disgusted "Gross... get out of here" he shooed her away, she smirked at her plan and ran off after picking up her books

She walked downstairs to the basement, where it was nothing but old furniture and a single light bulb in the center of the room. it didn't even help brighten the place, but she wasn't complaining. it was better then being in the same room with the two step losers

She cleaned up the webs that always show up everyday, and swiped the dusty rocky floor, finally done... after 30 minutes, she sighed and laid on her twin size bed with floral design sheets and a thin pillow

Why did mom have to die? Their lives were so much better then what Jenny was left with now... two step meanie and one quiet but sweet brother that smiled at her all the time, to remind her that theres still hope for her

She dug in her shirt and took out her small heart locket and opened it, it was her as a baby on one heart and her parents on the other, her mom was so beautiful... she could be a super model with those cheeks bones and big green eyes

Her father was handsome... he had a well trimmed beard, and had beautiful blue eyes that made the picture look like it was professionally token

Jenny closed the locket and sighed at the ceiling, just 1 more year... she'll be 18, when she turned 17 tomorrow, she'll be old enough to move away...

"Hey" she heard a whisper, she sat up and saw Jeramy walk in with a backpack "did i wake you?" he sat down on the edge of the bed

"No, i was still awake, just finished cleaning around this dump" she rolled her eyes, he chuckled

"Your birthday is in a few hours, i wanted to give you this..." he took of his backpack and handed it to her, she narrowed her eyes at him before opening it and saw 2 large stacks of money

"Jeramy!" she gasped picking up the stacks "how did you get this?!"

"Its all the money i earned while i worked, theres a good 100,000 in those two stacks" he explained, she shook her head

"No, you're crazy" she put the loot back in the bag and gave it back to him "i can't take your money!" he smiled and gave her the bag back

"Its the only reason why i worked..." he sighed "i never liked seeing you get beaten by my dad and brother... i worked long hours just to get you all this money, i'll be fine without it"

"You need it more then i do" she gave the bag back, he gave it back

"No, my mom left me enough money to take care of myself, I got this for you" he was done arguing over the backpack, she sighed and looked at it

"and Ima keep working till I'm satisfied" she gave him a look and took out the money

"You're not satisfied?" he laughed

"Just say you love me" she rolled her eyes

"I love you" she stuck out her tongue playfully, he wrapped the back of her neck with his arm and messed up her hair

"Awe, love you too sis!" She took his arm and twist it to his back, making his groan "good job!" she nodded and sat back up

"Thanks" she smiled "I'm happy to call you my brot-" she collapsed in his arms and passed out, he sighed and laid her on her bed and covered her in a blanket

"I'm happy to call you my sis too..." he smiled and left the room

"Jenny!!" Justin shouted, making Jenny wake up "get your ass here now!" she sighed and stood up, seeing the backpack in the corner of the bed where only she can see it, Jeramy...

She quickly got dressed in a black long sleeve, dark blue jeans, and black vans, and ran towards her step dads room, he was in his bed in a hangover while Derek was the same... on the couch

"Mija, I have a headache" Justin whined, what a sausage... She nodded

"I'll get you some coffee" she suggested "and i'll get you some cocoa" she told Derek, he groaned on the couch and gave a thumbs up

"Good girl" Justin smirked "what will we do without you?" probably die without someone to cook for you

"I'll get your things now" she turned and walked to the kitchen to prepare the warm beverages for the boys, she has to obey them... no one knows how bad those two can hurt her, Sure... Jeramy thought her perfect self defense but still...

She took the drinks up and came back to make breakfast, sausage and egg with flour tortilla "something smells good" Jeramy walked in and sniffed the air like a dog, she rolled her eyes and ignored him "need help?" she shook

"No, but you can flip the tortillas" he nodded and did what she said, after serving the jerks, the two came back down and are together before school

"Hey Jer" she called "are you ready for the test?" he rolled his eyes

"No" she giggled "sure, history can be easy but memorizing it is boring"

"You're lazy"

"No, I'm Jeramy" he joked, she hit the back of his head playfully and went to clean her plate

After that, she grabbed her book bag and grabbed her coat next to her brother "ready?" she asked, he nodded "let's go"

They waited for the bus to come, and when it finally arrived, Jenny took a deep breath and knew what awaited for her... bullies, as if her life wasn't bad enough...

"You sure you don't want me to protect you" Jer asked looking at her worried, she nodded

"I got this..." she smiled, even though she knew it was a lie
