"Back to your seat!" Coach hissed, my ears groaning as he yelled.
"Yo, Scotty. Hey, yo, Scotty? Still with me?" Stiles asked Scott when he was leaning against the window, a pained look on his face.
"Yeah sorry, uh. What's the word?" Scott opened his eyes.
"'Anachronism,'" Stiles said.
"Something that exists out of its normal time," Scott replied.
"Nice. Okay, next word..." Stiles began but I shut them out with my head phones.
I was listening to Panic! At The Disco when Stiles shook me, looking in my eyes. He pulled out my earphones, staring concerned at me.
"Scott's bleeding again and your eyes are glowing," Stiles sat beside me in my two seater.
"What do you mean my eyes are glowing?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"They're bright purple, Kayla. Please, just close your eyes," Stiles ordered, making sure I was keeping this a secret. "Isaac and Boyd's eyes were glowing too. We just don't know why."
"Why is Scott bleeding?" I looked at the window.
"We don't know. He should be healed by now. We have to talk Coach into pulling over. Lydia and Allison have been following us for hours. We need to stitch him up," Stiles leaned into the chair. "And I think I know a way to stop this bus."
Stiles ran up to Jared, the kid with the car sickness. Even before Jared managed to destroy the bus with his oh so colorful stomach acid and halfway digested food, I could feel the fact that Scott wasn't doing so hot. I could smell the metallic scent of blood that lingers in my nose and attacks my senses into overdrive. I shut my eyes, feeling the bus pull into a rest stop. The smell of Jared's vomit wasn't nearly as bad as the stench of the thick, horrible liquid.
I dashed off the bus, feeling overwhelmed with the stench of blood. Quickly, I ran to the bathroom. Before I knew it I was hurling black blood into the toilet. It was horrible, the swelling feeling in my stomach. The stench of me vomiting pierced my nose and tore me limb from limb. My vomiting continued, my stomach turning inside out.
"Kayla?" Lydia asked in the girls bathroom. "Kayla," she was right behind me.
"Kayla?" Stiles was behind me. "Oh shit."
"What's going on with her?" Lydia asked.
"I don't know," Stiles shrugged.
I finished up, falling to my knees on the ground by the toilet in the stall. They lifted me up, Lydia washing my face of the black blood. Stiles was looking at me, concern plastered in his eyes as if it were etched. They carried me out, all eyes on me.
"What the hell is wrong with Edwards?" Coach looked at me hunched over their shoulders.
"Vomiting," Lydia breathed out.
"Put her in the back. I'm a sympathetic vomiter," Coach gave me a dirty look and walked away.
I had my own three seater while Scott and Allison sat together and Stiles and Lydia sat together. Stiles and Lydia bothered me to the core, but I was too focused on the burning sensation that ate away at my corneas. Stiles constantly kept checking on me, looking straight into my purple eyes. Every shake the bus made I groaned in pain, black blood dripping from my mouth and nose.
Stiles checked on me for the twelfth time, his Hazel eyes looking at me again.
"She's bleeding black from her mouth and nose," Stiles whispered to Lydia.
"I think it's time we tell Scott," Lydia whispered back.
Stiles got up, walking over to Scott.
"Scott," Stiles started. "Kayla's sick. Black blood. She was vomiting when we stopped."
"What do you mean 'black blood'?" Scott was concerned.
"It's dripping out of her mouth and nose, Scott," Stiles explained.
"Is her body rejecting the bite?" Scott pondered.
"I don't think it is. Her eyes won't stop glowing."
"I have to go see her."
"No Scott, you're not going," Allison demanded. "You're not going anywhere."
"I'm in charge of her, Allison. I need to see Kayla," Scott demanded.
Scott came over to me in a new shirt. He looked at my pained expression, my eyes still glowing strongly.
"Hey Kayla," Scott sat on the seat, my head on his lap. "How are you feeling?"
Like death.
I could barely conjure up the energy to speak or move, let alone really think for myself. I was too concerned with the world around me then to be worried about my health and survival.
"B-bad," I stuttered, choking on blood.
"Once we get there, I want you to get a room with Lydia and Allison. We're not going to the meet anymore. Stiles and I will be in the room next door. You need rest, so sleep now and I'll wake you later," Scott ordered.
I closed my eyes, the acidic feeling still burning in my eyes. I cringed, Scott's fingers placing themselves in my hair. I choked on blood, sitting up immediately.
"Laying down doesn't do it for you, does it?" Scott chuckled.
I shook my head no, leaning my head on his shoulder. He cringed a bit, but remained solid.
"Kayla," Scott looked at me. "Kayla, you're shifting on the bus. A full shift."
Stiles ran over to me, seeing me uncontrollably coughing and shifting all at the same time.
"Not here," he sighed. "Not now."
