There was something about the animal side of me that I wanted to look into. I was running into the wind, my body relaxing under the cool air. I felt exhilarated, rushed with a sense of power and control. The voices seemed to dissipate as I centered in on the exact location of who exactly I was going to save. There was something behind me, blocking me from going to where I was looking to go.
"Looks like our little girl is grown up," a sadistic voice mentioned to someone else.
"Well," it was the twins, "we're headed to his place, might as well use her to our own benefit."
I ran, running as fast as I could. The bodies molding together pumped through my ears. I did the only thing I thought would be applicable. I howled, instincts taking over. It sounded afraid, weak. The boys caught up to me, tackling me to the ground.
"Damn it!" I heard one of them say, now pulled apart from each other. "Stay down!"
They were pushing me down, jaw to the dirt.
"We'll teach you how to stay quiet," one of them kicked me in the stomach.
I got up, shaking their grasp off of me. I came to the conclusion that no one was coming, so I launched myself at the one that hit me. I sunk my nails into his chest, growling viciously at him. The other one pulled me off, not before I made sure my claws were locked in and he pulled me to claw his brother's chest entirely. The twins screamed in unison, following the similar role of how Natalie and I could feel each other when we were hurt. I took off, running in the direction towards Derek's apartment.
I could hear screams ascending from his apartment, growls ferociously forming from the depths of their chests. I dashed up into the apartment building, the twins not far behind me again. I made it into the apartment, my own mother's scent tingling my nose. I saw her, back facing me. I launched myself at her, growling at her while she lay on the ground.
"Look at her, Derek," my mother growled. "She's gone. She's never coming back to you."
I growled at her words.
"Derek," another woman was about to fight him, "look at her. She's attacking her own mother."
I growled again.
"There's no hope for her."
"She's gone."
The twins pried me off of my mother, holding me by the neck. One held me by the neck with their claws.
"She's gone, Derek," they were playing him. "And you need to kill her to stop her from killing the people she loves. Your pack."
Derek seemed befuddled.
I locked eyes with Derek, pleading with him. Derek looked at me, debating on what to do. I whined, shaking in their grasps.
"Kill her, Derek," Kali, the woman, said through her teeth.
He was bloodied, looking at my English teacher and I. I didn't notice she was here, but I wasn't concerned with her for the time being. Isaac and Boyd were staring at me, my body ready to cripple down to the floor. They were wide-eyed, painfully looking at my expression.
"Let her go!" Isaac screamed, ready to attack the twins.
"She's gone," one of the twins narrowed their eyes at him.
"No she's not," Isaac smiled.
"Now!" Boyd screamed into a phone.
Isaac ran across the water in the loft just before electric shocked the whole place. The twins dropped me, running into the electrified water. Isaac covered Mrs. Blake as I scurried away into a corner. I growled, launched myself at the closer twin, who shook me off. I growled, but Isaac called me over, screaming my name. Everything happened so fast. So fast I didn't know what was happening. The pungent smell of blood lurked in the air.
I backed away, my coat wet and smelly. I wasn't concerned though, I was concerned about the fact that one of my pack members was hooked onto the claws of Derek. I whined, looking at his skin, the blood pouring from his mouth. Derek's eyes were full of tears. This was the death I predicted.
"Boyd!" I screamed, being myself again.
Someone ran over, wrapping a blanket over my body. I was crying into the familiar smell of his shirt, looking at the darkness.
"I'm giving you until the next full moon, Derek. Make the smart choice Derek. Join the pack... or next time I'm killing all of you," Kali whipped her hair, striding out with my mother behind her.
"It's okay," I heard Boyd smile in his words.
I walked over to Boyd and Derek.
"Boyd," I stroked his face.
"It's ok, you're ok," he reached out a hand for my face.
He couldn't reach it, just before his hand reached my face, his body slammed into the water, no thud of his heart.
"Boyd!" I screamed over his body, pounds of feet thudding on the ground.
I screamed, cried, growled all at the familiar time. I felt some arms grab me, but I didn't budge. I continued to cry on his lifeless body, holding his hand as he still continued to bleed.
"I-I'm sorry, Boyd. I failed you," I felt like a piece of me was ripped from my chest leaving me bare and cold.
"Kayla," Stiles wrapped his arms around me. "You have to let go. You have to."
"Boyd!" Cora came stumbling in.
She sat in the water on the opposing side of me, crying. I grabbed her arm, looking in her wet eyes.
"Cora, Kayla, you have to let him go," Stiles slipped his arms under me and pulled me away.
"No!" Cora screamed, pulling at my arm that was connected to her's as Stiles tried to pull me away.
"There's only one of them left!" I screamed.
"What do you mean only one left?" Derek held my shoulder.
"One that knows why," I shook my head, looking at Cora.
Her eyes widened, knowing what I was talking about.
"Don't tell them," Cora whispered.
"Don't tell us what?" Derek gritted his teeth.
"Why I've decided to go with the Alpha pack."
