The Dream

I slam the brakes causing my car to swerve on the wet road. I hop out before it stops moving. The door slaming hard behind me. My eyes quickly find her limp form. I sprint, sliding onto my knees as i near her broken figure. "No, no, no, no, no," I whisper frantically picking her up in my arms. Blood flows down my arms splattering onto the my legs like silent tears. Hot still from her beating heart.
She arouses faintly, giving me hope. "Stay with me, don't leave, just stay," I whisper leaning my head against hers. Her eyes flutter, then open. A tired smile comes across her  face as she turns her head painfully towards me.
"I'm," I start. "Shhhhh.. quiet now," she speaks softly placing a blood stained hand on my mouth. She turns slightly, looking me in the eyes. "I will always be here," she says placing a hand on my cheek. I take it with my own  pulling her close to me. A fitful peace settles over me just for just a moment. Then her hand falls limp onto her lap. My vision blurs, a sob welling up through my body.
Then i wake up. Tears spilling across my face, silent sobs raking my body, I pull myself close as if to protect myself from the dreams, from the pain.
