hi guys! Sorry for being dead. Busy and low motivation. But here's some content.
Ages ago, I started to write a ROTS AU story and though I love the idea, I'm just not motivated to write much anymore. But, here are a few of the scenes I wrote for it. I will tell you where the timelines are for these scenes. To set it up though: basically, Padme was a Jedi as well, and she survived. Pretty much everything else is the same as the canon events. Enjoy these write ups and try to ignore how mediocre it is, my writing has improved since I came up with these. This first scene takes place during the Temple March when Order 66 happens.
Padme took a breath and backed away from the image before her. To her surprise, she turned right into a pair of traitorous clones. She held her breath as her chest made contact with the barrel of the blaster. The clone on her right gripped her arm and took her lightsaber. The other one urged her to turn around with his blaster still uncomfortably close to her body.
Padme's fears overwhelmed her. She closed her eyes, ready to accept death. I may have something to live for... but I wouldn't want to in this world... surely you clones now know about me and--Anakin. Anakin, or now Darth Vader, approached with four clones behind him. He seemed slightly annoyed.
"Padme..." Anakin's voice was cold and his cape blowing lightly in the wind was eerie. This made Padme breathe heavily.
"No, no, no." Padme wriggled, still in the clones' grasp. She panicked. She was well aware of what she could and couldn't do, for, various reasons. It was not easy to think in a situation like this, where you're scared soulless.
"Padme!" Anakin said just a little louder. Padme turned around and twisted her arms, a little surprised the clones hadn't cuffed her, but mostly thankful. Now free, she force pushed her captors a fair distance away and ran to the best of her ability. Maybe running wasn't the smartest idea, but it was Padme's only idea.
Lucky for her, all of her training with the Force was just what she needed. It enabled her to sense exactly what she needed to sense. Padme knew she wouldn't be alone for long, she just didn't know how it would end.
This scene would take place sometime after Anakin/Vader fought with Kenobi on mustafar. I imagined Anakin getting out of it virtually unharmed. Obi Wan still makes it and gets out of there.
Her children weren't safe. They probably wouldn't ever be safe now, with the recently created world of terror. Padme left them with trusted friends who clearly had no objection to stopping the fall of the Republic. Now it was her turn to face the fear. He was coming.
Padme was well away from civilization when she heard another ship approaching. It wouldn't be anyone other than Anakin/Darth Vader at this point. Perhaps Obi Wan, but it was very unlikely.
The wind from the ship's engines whipped her hair around until they powered down. Padme didn't move a muscle. She stood strong, ready to face whatever, and literally whatever, this challenge would bring her.
"You know," Anakin said when he finally exited the ship. "I've loved you from the moment I laid my eyes on you."
"You wouldn't be doing this if you still felt that way." Padme kept her face emotionless.
"You're talking crazy." Anakin rolled his eyes and approached his wife. "This was the only way to save you." The pair began to circle each other very slowly.
"Well, I suppose it worked for you, then. Not all nightmares become realities, Anakin! I'll bet you I'd have been perfectly fine no matter what. I would have been perfectly fine without your 'new powers'!" She enunciated each word of that last sentence, then a look of fear came across her face.
"Palpatine was a silent bomb waiting for the right moment to detonate." Padme continued. "How can you not see the manipulation? He was pretending to be one of us, but he turned you against the Republic. He turned armies of clones against us. How can you not feel something for this?"
"You've got a lot of fire," Anakin said, then changing the subject, "I'm a bit surprised you're not... more tired out."
"I guess I've just learned to rough it. That's a perk of being a Jedi." Padme was very tired and aching, physically and mentally, but she shoved as much of those feelings as she could aside. It didn't help that she'd ended up having twins, but Anakin didn't know that much yet.
"I'm surprised you're moving around in your condition so soon." She fired back, gesturing to his two new robotic limbs. They were silent again for a moment.
"Where's my Jedi Knight, Anakin Skywalker?" Padme asked with a slight shake of her head. "The wonderful young man I used to know. I don't want to rule a galaxy. I want, I need a husband, a best friend, a father to go with a mother..."
"You've seen the last of Anakin Skywalker." The cloaked and creepy Anakin turned away, "If you're not with me, you're my enemy." Anakin recalled the same thing he'd told Obi Wan previously. He was hoping Padme would either join him then or leave and ponder the decision. She didn't like what she was about to do, but she slowly turned away and started to part from her challenge.
Can't let my guard down, I can't do that! Padme told herself as she walked away. Her mind was clear, and she felt the force flowing from the planet's life through her body. Everyone with force training knew that the force moved darkly around a creature about to kill. Padme felt the mass of darkness growing ever nearer, and cutting through the silent breeze was the clashing of two lightsabers.
Hope that was interesting!
