We all know the story of Monse and Cesar. We know the backstory of these best friends turned lovers...well, part of it. The tip of the iceberg if you will. What if I told you that the beginning of their full story started way before any quince death...
Molena listened to the phone ring for a sixth time before hanging up. She groaned and dialed Ruby's number.
He picked up on the third ring. "H-hello?"
"Ruben! Where is my sister!?"
"Who Monse?"
"No Deborah Ann. YES MONSE! Where is she?"
"She uh...I think you should maybe come down here."
* * * Molena pulled up beside the lawn(even though it had no grass) and got out of the car. There was a crowd of people that she had to push her way through before she found Monse on top of Cesar, pummeling him.
She looked around to find Ruby and locked eyes with Oscar, standing in the yard, before he quickly looked away.

She rolled to her eyes and kneeled to the ground, yanking her sister up by her arm and off of Cesar. She then turned and offered Caesar her hand, pulling him off the ground but had to spin back around to keep her sister from further embarrassing him.
"Mons stop, you're acting crazy!" Molena tried to hold her sister still.
"Me? I'm crazy!?"
"Calm down, breathe!" Ruby ran up and tried to ease the situation.
"Don't you patronize me! I don't need you, any of you! I was just trying to keep our crew together but since I'm the only one who cares, you're all dead to me. I'll survive on my own."
Molena sighed feeling uneasy where all this was unfolding. She could almost feel Oscar's eyes on her back.
She softly put her hands on her sister's shoulders and whispered in her ear.
"Speak your truth and all that, but for the love of all that's good and holy please stop screaming in the fucking cholo yard and get in the car." She spoke clearly and softly so no one could hear and smiled softly at her sister with amusement in her eyes.
Monse huffed and unfolded her arms, quietly storming to the passengers side and getting in.
"You two too, I'll take you guys home."
They boys reluctantly got in after Monse but Molena turned around to face Cesar, trying her best to avoid eye contact from his older brother sitting on the porch in the background.
"You're good, she'll cool down fast."
Cesar gave her a look as if to say they both knew better.
