She ran up to the house quickly, bounding up the steps two at a time while slipping the ring of keys out of her pocket. Once she reached the door, she hurriedly shuffled her thumb through her keys, trying to find the right one. Molena couldn't help but bounce from one foot to the other trying to keep her bladder under control. She found her prize and shoved the key into the lock, pushing her way back into her old home.

She didn't have to time to admire any changes that might've been applied to the interior design of the small white house, because the goal was the bathroom.

"Third door on the right", she silently mumbled to herself as she slipped in to take care of business, unaware that her sister was on the way home.

"Like Mario said, it's all about the right first impression", Ruby quoted his brother.

"And sticking together", Monse interrupted "You're totally deflecting about this Cesar sitch, now stop being bitches and tell me what happened!" Monse continued to go off on her only friends as she went to unlock her front door. her speech trailed off when she realized it wasn't locked in the first place.

Ruby and Jamal exchanged nervous glances.

"Maybe your dad's home."

"You sure you remembered to lock it?"

They both asked in unison in attempt to keep their heads level.

"It wouldn't make sense for my dad to be home this soon, and it doesn't make sense for me to forget to lock the door either" She rolled her eyes and slowly pushed the door open. She looked around for something to arm herself with, the closest thing being a baseball bat that was leaning against the wall by the door.

The three kids crept through the house quietly...or as quiet as Jamal and Ruby would allow each other to be while they hid behind Monse.

"Stop breathing so hard!' Ruby whispered yelled to Jamal

"I can't help it; suspense makes me nervous", He shot back

"Suspense makes everyone nervous genius, that's what the entire move genre is about."

"Will both of you shut up, unless you wanna get murdered today?" Monse said quietly to the guys behind her.

The kids all whipped around and faced the hallway as they heard a door open. Monse squeezed the bat tighter in her hands, prepared to swing on an intruder.

Molena let out a scream as she came face to face with wooden bat moving quickly towards her head. She closed her eyes tightly and flinched as the bat stopped about a half an inch from her cheekbone. Monse lowered the bat from her sister's face and stared wide-eyed.

"Shit, Lena! I almost killed you!" She shouted pulling her sister in for a tight hug.

"Yea, you might wanna call before you stop in next time, we live in the hood, girl" Jamal quipped

"Don't act brand new, I told you I was coming to see you guys start high school! I wouldn't miss this for the world!" She said hugging him too

"You came for Mario's graduation, you could've just stayed for the summer" Ruby said as Molena moved from her second hug and wrapped her arms around him.

"I mean, you know damn well I wasn't going to miss my bestie's graduation but I had last minute school shit to deal with before I could stay."

"Stay?" Monse's eyebrows shot to her hairline. "You're-"

Molena put her hands out to stop her from finishing. "Stay longer! I meant stay longer, I'm gonna have to go back, Mons." She hated herself for hoping her sister wouldn't snuff her out, everyone knew how persistent Monse was.
