From the time I was born I was told you're a girl act like it. Play with your dolls leave the cars to the boys. As I grew up I heard watch what you wear or boys will start to stare. Now that I'm in highschool I get yelled at for showing my shoulders, pulled out of class because I'm distracting the boys. Theres the the key word... boys, girls don't get distracted as easily and when we do we can keep working, as soon as boys see even a shred of skin they get distracted and we get told to cover up. Maybe instead of teaching our girls to cover up because their education is less important we should teach our boys to respect girls because they are just important. Instead of telling our girls to leave the cars to the boys we should teach the boys to play with dolls. Girls are sensitive boy's don't cry, no that wrong. Everyone has a sensitive side, even the strongest guy will cry at his mothers grave. The boys cant do it all instead of telling girls to find a strong man who can protect them, tell boys to find a girl who can protect herself. We want to fight sexism but the first step is for us to teach our children that gender does not define them. That a boy can wear pink and play with dolls while a girl can wear blue and work on cars. Honestly whats wrong with that.
