A Paper Plane from Heaven

Dear Dad ,
In all your bed time stories,
The princess never needed rescuing
Thank you.

Dear Dad ,
When I gushed to touch the stars
you gave me a telescope,
So I could start building stairs to them
Thank you.

Dear Dad ,
' What did you get me ? '
When I asked,
' The world ' you replied.
Eyes filled with wonder,
As I unwrapped the atlas
Thank you.

Dear Dad ,
Amidst all the speculations of our separation,
We both put out an empty hand.
Trying to forgo the darkness of horizon.

Perhaps,  there is something horrifying
about the growing darkness
and the setting sun.
Even the most astray of birds return home.

Paa ,
Your lap was the warmest pillow,
When the burning pyre sets me free
I will come and sleep some more,
I will come and sleep some more.
