The Interview

At 8:30 pm, in the River Side Apartment,
"wake Tf up El! "
Lily Spencer is trying her best to wake her friend Eleanor up for her interview. But she's not even stirring. Sighing, lily goes to the kitchen, fills a glass of water and throws it on El!
"Oh My God!!  It's a flood, Lil, a flood!!  HELP!! "
"Shut up, will you?  Do you want us to get kicked out the apartment? ",Lily asks with an amused face. Eleanor wakes up and finds herself looking at her now laughing friend. "Ugh, Lil, I hate you! I almost had a heart attack! You have no regards for your poor friend! ". "Oh puh-lease, poor friend my foot. You have an interview lined up in an hour and here you are, being Alice in Wonderland! "Eleanor stands up and showers. After showering, she starts sorting out her outfit for the interview. "oh shit, I don't have any outfit for a professional meeting! NOW WHAT?!! ".
Lily sighs. "When do you ever have any outfit for any occasion?! Let me help you there. Wait! " Lily searched her wardrobe and finally comes out with an outfit. "Here, take this. It's perfect for an interview." "ThankyouThankyou!  You're a life saver! " Eleanor goes and changes. In a few minutes, she comes out smiling. "This is perfect. Thanks Lil. " Lily smiles giving her friend a nod and gestures towards the clock. "Well, yeah I know I'm the best. But you're kinda getting late... " The clock shows 9:15 pm. Eleanor legit runs out but not before looking at herself in the mirror for the last time.

AT RAINES CORPORATE :

Eleanor reaches the office on time. As soon as she enters she runs into a very professional looking lady who looks at her and scowls.
"Are you one of the candidates for the assistant position? "
"Yeah, am I too late? "
"No, you're just in time. Now follow me. Let's get this interview done. I'm Nicole BTW. " Eleanor looks at her. She was dressed in all black. She looked very professional and strict.

Eleanor's POV:
I follow Nicole into a conference room I'm guessing. She looks at me with a stern expression and asks me to sit down. I do, but somehow I'm feeling a bit nervous about it.
"OK, now let's start. I'll ask you some questions and you have to answer them genuinely, without any sugar coating. Got it? "
"Umm, yeah."
She nods at me and takes a look at my paperwork.
"So, Eleanor, tell me, why do you want this job? "
I think about it a bit and then answer confidently. "Because I like the initiative your company is taking for those who were born without any privileges. Those, who need help. And I'd love to make this world a better place. "
She looks at me thoughtfully and nods. "Hmm, I see your thoughts are just like Adrian. But.. " She's cut off by a man entering into the room. He is tall and pretty fair. His eyes are deep, like an ocean, though they're not blue but there's something that pulls me towards them. He looks at me before turning towards Nicole. "Nicole, is this the candidate? " She answers with a nod. He smiles and tells her that he'd be interviewing me himself. Suddenly I feel a lot more nervous.

He comes over and sits opposite to me. I try my best to not stutter. He asks his first question. "Tell me, what do you desire? " "Like.. Why do I desire this job is because.. " "No, I asked what do you desire, in life? " I am a bit confused at first but muster some courage and answer. " Power, I desire power. " "Hmm is that so?  Why? " "Because I believe that if I have power, I can do what I desire. That is to help people who need and deserve it. " He smiles and nods his head, indicating that he liked my answer. I sigh with relief.
"What are your secret skills? " "Uh, Umm, I have great memory. " " Oh really?  Tell me what did I say when I came in? " "You asked Nicole if I was the candidate? " He smiles again, this time wider and I could swear to God I saw fangs but I shrug it off. "OK, here's a last one. It's a bit different so listen carefully. There was a farmer who lived in a small house. He had everything, farm, house, food, wife and a child. One day, while working he found a lamp. He rubbed it and a genie came out and promised to fulfill his three wishes. He first wished for more wealth. His wish got granted but all the villagers suffered, their crops disappeared and they were left with nothing. Second he wished for immortality, he got it too but his wife and child died. Tell me, what should be his third wish?" I was so confused  why would he ask me something like that? But then again, it's his interview, his way. I ponder over it for sometime and then finally answer. "I think he should ask to undo his last two wishes". "why so? " " Because, he had everything, maybe not much but enough to keep him and his family going. But now, he lost it all so it would be better for him to get everything back to normal". He looks at me for a few seconds and then smiles. "you're hired". Nicole objects. "But Adrian, we have two more candidates! " He shakes his head no. "This is the one". She sighs but nods anyway. "I am so grateful for this opportunity. I promise I won't let you down. " "I know you won't. That's why I hired you". By now, I'm smiling like crazy. "When do I join Sir? " " Miss, you can join from now". "Please call me Eleanor, sir. " " I will when you'll call me Adrian". " uh sure Si- I mean Adrian". "OK then Eleanor. Come with me. I have a meeting lined up and you have to get something from the attics down ". I follow him. We enter a luxurious elevator. He gives me the names of the things I have to get. "So, two of my guests are coming. You have to get everyone a specific object. Listen carefully. I don't want this to get messed up." " OK. I'll do it. There will be no mess. I promise ". He smiles and gives me the instructions.

"Got it? " I nod. He gets out of the lift and goes to the conference room.
"OK, guess it's just up-to me now. " After a few seconds, the elevator reaches the ground floor. I step out and find myself into the most beautiful library ever! I go into the library further more when suddenly a grumpy professor comes out.  "What do you need? " I look at him, completely scared. "uh, I, uh, I need some gifts Mr Raines ordered". "is that so?  Hmm wait here". He goes around the shelves and disappears. He comes back with a wooden, carved box. 'Here, don't mess up ". I nod and leave. Phew!  What was that anyway!
I reach the floor where the conference was held. I knock before entering. Adrian smiles and introduces me. "Well, she's my new assistant, Eleanor ". The lady present there gives me a firm nod while the guy smiles creepily.
"Eleanor, I believe you may have some gifts to present ". I smile and go forward. "Uh, this Scarab is for Ms Sayeed", I say, while giving it to her. She smiles and admires it. "Damn Adrian, this one is just elegant to its best". "This dagger is for Mr Castellanos ". He comes over and takes it. "Well Well Well, this is absolutely beautiful, Adrian you have a good taste boy! " Adrian smiles and asks me to wait outside. I bow and go out. Well, I think that went good. I wait till they all come out and the Two guests leave. Adrian comes towards me. "What are you still doing here! It's late. I thought you would've went home ". " I thought you may need help so I stayed." "Thanks for that. But I think you must leave now. It's almost midnight." I do as he says and leave. In about twenty minutes, I reach the apartment and find Lily still awake, playing video games. "Hey Lil, what are you doing this late? " "Oh, nothing, I'm mass murdering people". I roll my eyes at her. "OK OK, why are you still awake? " she looks at me as if I've grown three heads. "I was waiting for you, meano". OK, this is weird. Cuz Lily never waits for me. "Lil, let's celebrate cuz I GOT THE JOB!! " She abruptly stands up and hugs me. "You did?!! Yayayayayay. This calls for massive party! " Oh no.. Party.. No way in hell!  "Not now Lil. Let's just rest. We'll see tomorrow". She makes a weird face but nods anyway. As I'm removing my coat I remember something. Oops, I forgot to give Adrian the Mandrake extract!! "Uh, lily, I'll be back." I run as fast as I can. In half an hour, I reach there and am very relieved to see the lights on. I go to the fifth floor, where Adrian's office is, hoping he's still there. I see the door open and enter to see the most horrific scene in front of me.............
