-Scarlett-
"So how is the collage life?" My dad gives me a reasurring smile as he across to me. I made sure he wasn't going back to my dorm room. And I will not risk seeing Luke. Basically as soon as they saw us I picked up my stuff and ran away. I haven't spoken to any of them. Though it has only been a day or so.
"It is interesting." I laugh as I try to reassure him of the same thing.
"Okay come on Scar, stop tip toeing tell me what's up?"
"Well you haven't really said anything about mum or what's happening?"
"She moved back down to your grandma. And we are fine. We still keep in contact, everything was pretty mutual sweetie."
"Promise dad? I worry for you."
"I'm not that old yet, am i?"
We just laugh and continue to talk about everything back home. Apparently the weird lady next door got married. I really thought she was the true definiton of crazy cat lady. I was looking foward to becoming her when I was older. Also my cousin is pregnant for the 5th time in 6 years. I wish that was suprising.
"Do you remember that delivery boy you had a crush on?" My cheeks heat up as I cover my face, laughing to myself.
"No one knew about that dad!"
"Oh god you wish, everyone knew darling."
"Well whatever dad what about him?"
"He came over to drop a parcel off and asked for you. Everyone is still pretty shocked that your here a year early." See why can I not just have stayed home a year, actually talked to the cute delivery boy. And married him, simple as.
"And we all know whos the reason why I am here." We exchange glances before my phone starts to go off.
"Get it sweetie, I'll pay for this and we can go get ice cream." I'll never understand how my mum let him slip away.
"Hello?" I speak into the phone.
"Hey Scarlett... it's uh me Luke."
"How did you get my number?"
"Violet gave it to me?" God how did Violet even have my number. We never communicated over well anything.
"Right, so why are you calling?" I don't know why I seemed so annoyed. I really am just over this. I'm not going to be the stupid girl who falls for the bad boy who then breaks her heart. That is a sterotypical love story and I refuse to be part of it.
"I just wanted to talk about the other day?" There was something very different about his voice, it sounded almost like that night.
"Scar, who is it? Are we ready to go or should this old man go and sit down again?" I laugh at my dads weird comment. He really loves the old jokes.
"Luke I have to go."
"Why? Scarlett please I need to talk to you?"
"I'm with my dad, we can talk later." Before I let him respond I hang up the phone. He is the confusing human being I swear.
--------------------------------------
After ice cream, dad convinced me to take him to go see Ashton. I rang him before hand to make sure Michael wasn't there. He was at some party. I can't even remember when I meet Ashton. My dad and his dad have been best friends since high school. And because dad never had a boy he shared a weird bond with Ashton. When I was little I hated Ashton for it. But now I am thankful. Otherwise I would have been the worst honoury boy I swear.
"Ashton!" My dad practically yells as Ashton opens the door to us. They go off to the couch, leaving me and Vanessa at the door way. I'm not sure if I should feel awkward. I mean she is Luke's sister.
"Hey Scarlett are you okay?"
"Uh yeah sorry, over thinking." I'm so curious to ask her questions about Luke but would she hate me? These are all the reasons I do not talk to people.
"Don't worry about the other day, Luke is going through a weird phase."
"What do you mean weird phase." She laughs lightly to herself and makes me sit at the kitchen counter top next to her. Another perk of being higher than a freshman. No need for cafeterria food.
"Okay so you must deny you know this or my oh so loving brother may kill me. Basically back home he was in his second to last year of high school and he meet this girl. She simply used him constantly. She was a year older and was really "punk". "
"Wait so how was Luke at this point?"
"Oh he was quite nerdy, he had few friends but loved reading. Would rather stay home than go out. So he meet her and as soon as she broke up with him he became her. Well not like actually her because thats weird but this whole bad boy act. Is only every going to be an act. Luke can be rude and sleep around. But he would never leave an old lady, in need of help. He is amazing with children. But he loved her aye. Like she said the stupidest excuses like 'yeah we hooked up but its okay he is just my cousin babe' and he believed it. He would never let the relationship end. Expect for when she got bored of the innocent little boy who did her every command. So she left."
I never saw Luke as one to get hurt, but the one to hurt someone. I guess that's because I never meet him before this phaze.
"Wait so why did you tell me this?"
"He gave you the same look."
"The same look?"
"The same one nerdy him use to give her. It's probably why he is so rude to you. It reminds him of it." My phone went off again and I silently groaned to myself.
"Speak of the devil." I pulled out my phone as I watched Vanessa give me a weird grin before I walked out the door.
"Hello Luke."
"Scarlett can we talk now?"
"Yeah I guess so."
"Uh I don't really know what to say.."
"Then why on earth did you call me Luke?"
"I want to ask you something."
"Well then say it Luke."
"Fine. Do you want to go on a date with me?"
"I thought I was to much of a dork for you?"
"Do you want to or not Scarlett."
"Yes Lucas."
"Did you call me Lucas?"
"And what if I did?"
"God you are fustrating, I'm picking you up tomorrow night at 7, good bye dork." And he hung up before I could change my mind.
