Kat watched as Kal scanned her for what was probably the millionth time this month. When did the most popular boy in Rosewood High take a sudden interest in her? She didn't know. She slammed her locker shut and began her journey to the cafeteria.

After arriving at her favorite spot with her lunch in her pink thermos, she sat down and tore a plastic fork's wrapper with her teeth and spat bits of plastic onto the ground beside her.
She cracked the spine of her new book and began to stuff her face.
"Kat?"
She heard from above her and jumped. That voice belonged to Kal, so that means he's here to bother her. Great.
"What?" She answered almost aggressively.
"Can I sit here?"
"No."
Kal rested himself directly beside her and smiled.
"You like that book so far?"
No response. Maybe that would repel him?
"It's a really good love story! I finished it yesterday."
No response.
"Okay, Ms. Attitude."
Kal heard a small chuckle and hoped that it would be the gateway to a conversation.
"So, there's, uh, something I wanted to talk to you about."
Kat's ears perked up, although she hadn't the slightest idea why.
"I think I like you?"
Kat began to cough and choke on her spicy curry rice.
"Pardon?"
"I.....like.....you."
"Okay."
Kal began to laugh and ran away.
"I DID IT GUYS! I DID THE DARE!"
Dare?
Dare.
It was a ****ing dare?
Kat got up and grabbed her friend's cup of water and dumped it all over Kal.
Kal's friends were rolling on the floor while Kal took off his jacket and walked away.

...
Why did she care?
It's so crazy how your feelings can change so quickly.
Was that the case, or did she have this bottled up for what had been weeks on end?
Couldn't she just asexually reproduce and get life over with?
It didn't matter, as her thoughts came crashing to a halt as she heard a knock on the door.
She slid off her bed (ruining the bedsheets on her way) and opened the door.It was Kal.
"Kat, this is really important."
"What? Is this another dare, or is playing with feelings your favorite game?"
"I..." He seemed to be looking for the words he believed would put Kat at ease.
"Just let me in. This isn't a dare, I promise."
Kat opened the door slightly wider for Kal to enter.
"Make it quick."
"Look, how I can I explain this?"
Kal walked closer to her and held her face by her chin.
"You're so special to me, although I may not know you very well." He came closer to her face and brought his face a millimeter away from hers.
"I like girls that play hard to get."
Kat's face turned tomato red, but she looked him in the eat and bit her lip.
Kal took this as a sign and pressed his lips to hers.
(I, Venus, will close the curtain on the rest of this story.)"And that's how your mother and I met."
Kal smiled at his daughter, Bella, and back at his wife, Kat.
