“Uhhg.” Sighing, I downed the last swallow of my iced tea, setting the tall glass gently on the counter. “It's so hot today.” I tugged at the collar of my shirt, talking to no one in particular. “Especially for spring.” It was mostly quiet in the shop. The kids had been coming here for about a week and they had been doing a pretty good job, But with the extra help and startling small amount of chores for me to do, I couldn’t help being a little bored. The boys had gone to the shop for a few supplies and the girl was helping the delivery men unload their truck

“Um, Excuse me (L/N)-San.” I jumped. Standing behind me was Ochako Uraraka. I smiled at her, trying to ignore the dirt smeared across her face.

“Yes dear? What is it?” I couldn’t help but admire how young and full of life she looked in her apron. Fighting the urge to reminisce, I took a step forward, pulling a leaf out of her soft brown hair.

“U-um.” Her hand flew to her head, no doubt checking to make sure there were no more unwelcome guests. “What did you want me to do with these bags of dirt?” She gestured to a stack of heavy looking bags stacked on a pallet.

“Those are for my greenhouse.  I'm going to plant some tomatoes. They have to go out back. Here “ I rolled up my sleeves. “Let me help you.” I picked up one of the bags, slinging it over my shoulder. “Follow me.” I didn't look back to check on her. I didn't need to. Even though she could just make the bags float, I knew she would be tough enough to just lift them if she had too. She was surprisingly strong for a girl of her stature.

“Is here ok?” She gestured to a patch of grass by the greenhouse door. Nodding, I let my bag fall on the ground and waited for her to do the same. I'd only been carrying one, but she had managed to float the other five outside all on her own.

“ Would you like to help me? If we finish this before the boys get back, we can eat the cake I've been hiding in the fridge.” I winked at her nudging the greenhouse door open with my foot. Her smile was contagious. We quickly finished our chore and headed back inside to wash up. She sat at the small glass take in front of the shop, swinging her legs and watching eagerly as in brought out two plates of german chocolate cake.

“Wow. That looks so good!” She exclaimed cheerfully as she picked up her fork. I smiled as her face lit up with the first bite. “It's so good! Where did you get this?” chocolate frosting was already smeared on her cheek.

“I made it myself.” I said handing her a napkin. She bowed in thanks, her mouth full. “I'm glad you like it. Truthfully, I've been having trouble with sugar recently. I guess it comes with age.” I sighed lightly, taking a small bit of my cake. It really was too sweet for me.

“You're not that old. You're in your thirties right?”

I nodded sadly. Though I looked very young, I was already thirty eight. My mother had been the same way until she hit her sixties. “The cake is super good. You're really good at baking.” She smiled, most likely trying to change the subject.

“Thank you.” I placed my free hand on hers. “Would you like some tea?” I smiled, giving her hand a little squeeze. She nodded happily. “Ok. I'll be right back.” Making my way to the back of the store, I couldn't help being a little depressed. Thirty eight years old and still single. I had always hoped to have been married and to have had at least one kid, but that point. Sighing, I pulled to glasses down from the cupboard, and poured some tea. Glancing back outside, I could see that Uraraka was thoroughly enjoying her break. She reminded me of something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. “Ah!” I smiled to myself, making a small detour before head back outside. “Here you go.” I set the glasses on the table and waited for her reaction.
