This Is The House That Doubt Built.

The darkness was in every corner of the room. The stench of rotting decaying flesh filled the air. The lonely sat cowering in the corner. They placed their ears against the cold brick wall with wallpaper that was peeling and flaking off due to old age. The sound of running footsteps comforted them, as it reassured them that the living was still alive. However, the screams and shrieks of the living made them more scared then they were before. The door to the building slammed open and the sunlight flooded into the room. The now disturbed dust twinkled and the sunlight glowed on the dead bodies that had been stabbed into the ground so, they would not rise again. A figure ran into the room tripping over the pile of corpses. They scrambled up, closed the door and lent against it trying to catch their breath. A couple of minutes passed and no one moved. The figure shone a torch, lighting up the two girls in the corner. "Hi" said the man. He stood and began to walk closer to them. The girl who was sat closest stood up using her body to block the other girl from the man's sight.

"Are you two the Michaelis sister's?" Asked the man.

"Yes, yes we are" nodded the taller girl, "Why?"

"Your father sent us to look for you. He wants us to bring you to his camp." Said the man. "I'm Frank and you are?"

"I'm Cherry and this is my younger sister Lily." Cherry said as Lily moved to her side and waved at Frank.

"Shall we get going?"

"What about the... the ...um" mumbled Lily

"The dead" responded Cherry

"They've gone, they followed the rest of the search party into the woods" Replied Frank.

"Oh, ok let's go then."

Frank, Lily and Cherry walked towards the door, stepping over rotting bodies. Frank held the door open as Lily walked through whilst Cherry bent down to pick up a sharpened metal pipe ,that was holding a body to the floor, and left the dark building behind her. The sunlight made all three of them squint. The deserted land was quiet not even a bird could be heard. Frank pointed towards a path through the trees. "This way" He said.
