Short Story Three

Guardian Angel Part Two

Raziel laid on the couch waiting for Kall to finish getting ready. His body ached more and more with each passing day. He knew he would have to tell Kall eventually but he couldn't image how much it would hurt her. She was finally learning how to live her life again and he didn't want to take that away from her. He knew once she found out that he was dying she would fall into pieces. 

Kall knew something was off about Raziel. He wasn't as active as he normally was and every move he made looked forced. She planned to ask him about it tonight at the dance but once she saw him laying on the couch she knew she needed to ask him now.  "Raziel? what is wrong with you? You haven't been yourself lately and i'm kinda worried about you."

Raz slowly sat up. Pain shot through each muscle, but he tried his best to fight off the tears. "I'm fine Kall, just sore from the gym that is all," he lied. Kall could see past his attempt of avoiding the truth. she walked over to the couch and sat next to him.

"You don't go to the gym, Raziel. Now tell the truth this time, please," she put her bottom lip out making a pout. She then widened her eyes, trying to look as cute as possible. 

Raziel had to look away but it was too late. He was already feeling guilty for lying."Well, I didn't tell you everything about being your angel," he began,"See you already know we can not  fall in love with humans but i didn't mention what would happen if we did. Once an angel falls to earth they only have a few months to go back to heaven. Well i would go back but i cant leave the one i love. When an angel falls in love with a human and the fall to see the human then they must return in a couple weeks. If they do not return in time then they will start to experience consequences."

Kall leaned into him anxiously. she couldn't quite understand what he was telling her. Was he saying that he was dying? how could this be? her life was finally starting to makes sense again. 

"Kall, if i don't return by tonight i will die. I didn't want to tell you because i know how much you have lost and i didn't want you to loose me too. I wish things could be different. I wish i could stay here with you. I have decided to stay here until my final breath. And once i'm gone i will still be with you in your heart."

She shook her head. "No! There must be another way. I will find another way. I will not let you leave me too. Darn it Raz, i love you too." with that she learned over and kissed him. She wasn't thinking she was just doing.

A bright light appeared around the two and suddenly all gravity disappeared. It was like they were floating in mid air. Kall looked around at her new surroundings. The sky was white and the ground was soft. its like she was standing on a cloud. Raziel looked shocked. Almost as if he wasn't expecting to be in this place. A man was standing in the middle of the vast place. He slowly walked to them.

"Raziel! You have broken many rules and for that you must be punished. I have heard you planned to not come home tonight and i can not let that happen. Even though you have fallen and you have sinned you are still one of our best angels." The stranger spoke in a deep commanding voice.

Raziel shrank a few inches and Kall could see he was scared of this man. She stepped in front of him and shielded him with her body. "I don't know who you are but i will not have you talking to him like that. He is my favorite person in the whole world and he doesn't need to be punished for having feelings. He can do what ever he sees fit with is emotions and if that means dying because he loves me then he has that right. It may not be smart but love makes you crazy. I love him too, which is why i'm acting so dumb right now but i don't care."

Raziel grabbed Kalls hand and then lowered them down to a bow, " Please sir, don't listen to her. She doesn't know what she is saying. She doesn't mean any harm."

"No Raziel, she makes an interesting point. Maybe you are such a good guardian because you have a connection with human emotions. Its also interesting how she shares these feelings with you. I may have spoken to soon. I will allow you to stay on earth with this human but you must still do your angelic duties." With those words the man was gone and the pair were back in the living room.

"Wow Kall, you just changed angel law. I cant believe you did that. You are amazing!" Raz pulled her into a hug, holding her tight.

"Hey its my turn to be your guardian angel."
