Finally driving at a steady speed Sam looked to her friends to make sure they weren't hurt. Elliot's face was blank as if she'd completely disassociated from the situation while Kalo was trying to control their shaking "If you start to feel ill tell me, okay? We can stop somewhere and find some medicine before it gets too bad" Elliot looked up to Sam's reflection in the mirror "I thought there was no medicine that helped with it?". Sam grunted "Well. There's got to be something...but you'll be fine anyway. We're all okay" Her voice fluctuated in pitch slightly. Kalo nodded and began shaking their leg "You look nice" they said trying to find some distraction from their thoughts. Sam was a girl of average height, her eyes were a deeper shade of brown than her hair, which was cut in to a bob. She wore ankle boots and leggings daily with a baggy sweatshirt or tee. "I tried phoning Zion while I drove around looking for you guys but he didn't pick up, the last I heard they were eating cereal and listening to the radio" "cereal?" Elliot scoffed "there's no milk." Sam laughed nervously still wondering if the guys were okay "I suppose it was dry cereal" no one responded to her comment after that. A drive which would usually be quick would take so much longer as they had to avoid the busy roads where people may gather. Driving as they were, it was almost possible to forget what had just happened. Yet their minds still slipped away reliving each moment. Coming out of her dissociative state Elliot felt the people crushing her from behind again, her chest seemed to tighten. She shook it off over and over again. Don't think about it she thought. That only made her imagine it more, every inch of her body felt violated by the crowd and she just wanted to fold herself into a ball. Not feel again. She sobbed.
Kalo's attention was slowly drawn to the smell of burning which seemed to be lingering on their clothes from the earlier car crash. They ran their hand along the door looking for the button to wind down the window and let some fresh air in. Unable to find it they reached for the door handle and with a light pull opened it. Elliot reached across the seats to stop them but her seatbelt restrained her. Sam spun around to see what was going on as Elliot begged Kalo to close the door again. As her attention was taken off the road her hand began to move the wheel around and the car began drifting across the road. Kalo unplugged themselves and reached out the door to grip the handle. Screaming car horns suddenly brought Sam's attention to the road and she swerved back into her lane once more. The jerking motion flung the others about in the back of the car causing Kalo to lose grip of the handle. Sam got the car steady and Elliot grabbed onto Kalo's clothing so they would not fall out. Finally getting a hold of the handle they slammed the door shut. The whistling of the wind stopped and it went silent apart from the sound of Elliot's heavy breathing. Kalo took a deep breath tasting the air that had just been let in "I just want... I thought I would get us some fresh air" Sam held her thumb up at them "Well you did a great job of that" she said, sarcastically smiling at the road "Why didn't you just open the window?" Elliot mumbled "I couldn't find the button so-" Elliot spun around in her seat completely and began pointing at the door "Its a fucking manual door, you wind it down! What's wrong with you?!" Kalo howled as they kicked the chair in front of them "I don't know! I can't feel my hands, I can't think straight and no one here is even trying to explain to me what the fuck is happening" Elliot unplugged her seatbelt and slid across the seats to hold her friend.
All calm Elliot closed her eyes and began thinking of how she would explain their loss of jewels to the others. They weren't there, so would they believe her? Not far from the house. Parking down the road from the house. Home time.
