Wishing for you
It all began so long ago:
The tragic tale of which I know.
T’was once upon a long lost time
When I have glimpsed a love sublime.
I yearned and dreamt, I hoped and prayed…
Lest all the cherished moments fade.
And now they’re all etched in my heart,
A deep and ethereal part.
For once, I gave my heart away
To one who always loved to play.
And play he did, with what I gave;
Breaking that which no one can save.
But then he came, and brought me light
He took my hand, and held it tight.
No words of comfort did he give
But he had meant to, I believe.
He probed my soul with knowing eyes
Which were not filled with shameless lies.
He made an oath: a gentle kiss
With which he said, “I’ll give you bliss.”
So we walked on, blithe and happy…
Never doubting, hands held tightly.
Alas! Why did he have to go
So soon? It was a heavy blow.
Why is it that they took from me
The thing which I have cherished fondly?
How can I live? My soul is gone
Away in heaven, with the sun.
With my heart thus ripped and torn,
Can I wake to see the morn?
So loving angels, if you hear,
Pray, take him back and keep him near.
I’ll give my all to see my love
Descend to me from skies above.
