White Dress
She was my playmate years ago,
One that I cherished so.
She was the one who charmed our play
And kept the tears at bay.
She was a blithe and lovely girl,
A rare and special pearl.
I never saw a sweeter face
With calm and gentle grace.
My fresh-faced angel, all in white...
I wish that you would come tonight.
She was my best and dearest friend
On whom I could depend.
She sought for me when I was lost
And did not mind the cost.
She had a pure and loving soul
That healed and made me whole.
We shared our dreams, and hopes, and joys;
We sang in one merged voice.
My radiant angel, all in white...
I wish you'd guide me with your light.
But she is gone, forevermore...
She stands across the shore,
Where dreams we've cherished can be found,
Where all our vows were bound.
She may have left me, but I know
That someday I can go
To meet her, kiss her, take her hand
In that unaging land.
Departed angel, all in white...
I long to have you in my sight.
