I hold up my curled ombré hair as Trish zips up the back of my dress.

It was a long length red strapless dress. I got it last week when I went shopping with Trish.

"All ready."She says once she finish zipping it up.

I let down my hair and look into the mirror, smoothing it down.

"The girls said they'll meet us there, so we can get going now."Trish says, referring to Cat, Jade and Tori.

I nod, checking my makeup just as Danielle walks in.

"Are y'all ready?"She asks, peeking in.

I spin around, checking in my purse to make sure I have everything.

"Ready."I smirk.

I give my parents and Emily a hug goodbye before I leave out with Trish and Dani, heading to the school dance.

--

As we entered the dimly lit gym, I start looking around for the other girls.

Music was being played, by a band made of 4 students from my school.

I take a mental note in checking out some of their youtube covers later.

Mostly everyone was dancing, Stella by All Time Low was being covered, and food was being served on a long buffet table.

Everything seemed to be going great so far, the music was good, the gym was decorated nicely.

I have to give props to Trish, having to put up with Lexi while helping plan the school dance.

I excuse myself from the table with the girls, and get up to get a drink from the table.

I pick up a plastic cup and the spoon from the punch bowl, pouring a little into my cup.

"You look quite ravishing tonight."I hear someone say, knowing exactly who it is. It's almost as if I can feel the smirk on his face right now.

I turn around to become face to face with no other than Austin.

"You don't look too shabby yourself."I reply, chuckling.

"I'm taking that as a compliment."He says with a grin, sipping his drink.

"So, have you done it yet?"I broadly ask.

"You see.."He trails off.

"Austin."I say in almost a whiney voice but how could you blame me. I really want to be with Austin and the feeling is mutual so why can't they just break things off? It's obvious she's only with him for social status, how can he not see that.

Austin needs to be with someone who actually cares for him, and I happen to be that person.

At the end of the day I just want austin to be happy, whether it's with me or not. He deserves it.

"I'm gonna end things, I- it's just that tonight's the dance and I didn't want to break her heart on a night that's important to her."

Wow such a sweetheart ain't he.

"I understand."I give him a genuine smile. "I'm just gonna go now."I tell him, walking off back to the table.

There was about 1 more song until it was finally my turn to go up there.

I was singing a slow song so they saved me for last.

Their cover of Bastille's 'Things We Lost In The Fire' had finally ended, so I stood up and clapped with everyone else, give the band before me a round of applause.
