I couldn't even fathom the idea that she was actually gone. All the proceedings after the accident to mom's burial all seemed like a horror movie gone live.
To top it all off dad was so tied up he couldn't make it.
What my mom and dad had was a love I didn't understand.. They married young and had me.. They realised they loved each other but living and having a family together would not work.They got divorced and I went to live with mom. They remained the best of friends even when dad got remarried.
I was on good terms with my dad even though we didn't see each other often.. We were good friends.
Right now here I was sitting in the waiting room at the Californian airport, waiting for dad to pick me up, when I saw him coming over to where I was with the most adorable little boy in his arms but when I forced my eyes to look at my dad I felt tears well in my eyes, and when he got to where I was and said the last thing I wanted to hear....
"Em..." I broke down in his arms.

After my embarrassing display back at the airport.. Dad drove us to his house and I saw my mouth completely drop as I looked as his house.
IT WAS HUGE AS FUCK!!!
Even when we got inside I felt a bit of drool leaking from my mouth. It was amazing. Before I could even say anything I felt small but firm arms engulf me. I looked to see who it was and saw a short stunning petite woman gazing at me
"This must be dad's wife "I thought to myself.. "She looked nice" and there and then I grew an instant liking towards her.
"You must be Emma, I'm sooo happy to finally meet you... Dan here has said so many things about you... I'm hoping that we will get along well and... "
I lost track of what she was saying as I started to look around, "damn this house was huge. " I thought to myself but as I continued looking around aimlessly.. I felt pairs of eyes looking my way that's when I realized that a question had been directed my way.
"Umm sorry can you please rephrase that ..i didn't quite catch what you said " I blushed
"I said would you like me to show you your room now... I figure you must be tired" said Anika (who I realized was daddy's wife)
"Umm.. Yes.. Sure. That would be greatly appreciated " I stummered
"so I'll leave you two girls to each other while I get some work done.. " I heard dad say as Anika led me to my new room. "I really missed my mom" I thought as Anika kept on blabbering as she led me to my so called "new room"

I figure that if there were flies there'd be stuck in my mouth because the room Anika showed me was huge...
"I'm sorry I can't accept this... This is too much.. Isn't there a nice little closet I could probably crash in.. "
I told Anika rather breathless
"don't be shy.. "she chuckled "this is your house as much as it is mine and you totally deserve this.. Plus Dan would kill me if he found out I left you to sleep in a closet.." she laughed
"ohhhh..." those are the only words I could fathom just an "ohhhh"
"it's okay sweetie" she smiled " so are you hungry?" she asked
"NO.. no I'm not thank you.. We stopped for a meal on our way here"
"It's okay darling.. Now get some rest.. You have school tomorrow " she told me before she left the room
I was so overwhelmed that I didn't even unpack or change my clothes.. I just dropped onto the bed as sleep quickly engulfed me in its arms.
