"126 Truven Circle NorthEast." Jannette recited the street written on the note. With no knowledge of where she was, she was supposed to find this place. With no map, no money, no phone, no nothing. How she was going to do this, the way was unknown. She walked out of the alley not knowing what to expect. All her book smarts remained but she didn't even know her age. outside of the alley way a busy street. Filled with stores, offices and a few houses here and there. She squinted looking at the street sign above her. It read 'Truven Way NE' She knew she was somewhere close to the place. She walked into the nearest conveniece store getting stares from shoppers. She looked down seeing her dark soggy clothes hoping it would not affect the kind of service she got. She walked up to the counter and rang the bell. A man came out giving her the same dirty looks as everyone else. "Excuse me sir do you know where Truven Circle NorthEast is located?" He gave her a look up and down. He knew where it was, just didn't want to tell her.
"Sorry mam, I have no idea." She gave him a beady-eyed look. Then she turn around decideding if he didn't want to do this the easy way, she would get it out of him the hard way.
"Oh well. I guess I'll do a little shopping." She smiled to herself and walked around. The man's eyes followed her as she went. She walked up to a shopper an took and item from their cart. "Hmmmm... I don't think you need a hairbrush sir. There's no hair to brush on that head of your's." Offened, he marched out of the store leaving everything behind. "You still don't know where it is?" She said dirctectly in the clerk's face. He shook his head staring at her in disbeilef. "Then let the show continue." She mumurs as she walks upto a customer and pretend to trip into there shopping cart covering it in mud. The second customer left. Three others are standing browsing with there carts in a line. She again does the clusmy pretend to trip bit but this time causes a chain reaction of carts onto the floor. "Four, five, six. Only four more customers to go. Whose ne-"
"Stop!" The clerk yells. "3 blocks down take a right." A smug smile appears on her face and she skips out. She then walks back in walking right up to the clerk staring at him with the same beady eyes as before.
"One more thing. If this is a lie. I will make sure you never see another customer in this store again." Jannette walks out again leaving the clerk with a shoked look on his face. As she walked across the road she wondered what had just happened. For a girl with no sense of identity or anything, she was quite devious. She went down the three block and took a right suprised the man didn't trick her. A block later, she saw the adress 126. The house looked old and broken down abandon. Like no one had lived their for years. She walked up onto the porch and rang the door bell. For a moment she waited, then lost hope. The moment she turned around and I came out from the peep hole.
"Name?" The figure asked. It was obviously a women. She had a sweet warm voice that had a special twist. Even like a charm on the edge of her voice.
"Jannette Paske." I pause for a moment to rethink what I had said. "I think."
"One moment." The woman said. The peep hole was closed and I listen to the conversation on the other side of the door.
"It's her! She's here! I tolded you she would find the note!" The woman I had spoke to before said with excitement in her voice.
"It was luck she found that tiny note you left! Let her in I'll arrange her room. We have quite a bit of explaining to do tomorrow morning." A man with a raspy voice that was actually kind of warm replied to her. Jannette back away from the door as she heard the door being unlatched with an unessesary amount of locks. The lady she had spoke to earlier had opened the door. She was a bigger woman. She was wearing a long night gown. It looked like she was getting ready for bed of course considering it was late night. She had brown like hers up in a messy bun. She quickly pulled her into the house and closed the door. The house was actually much much nicer in the inside then the out. Like anyhouse in the surbrubs. It was really beautiful. Two stories, nice blue carpet in the living room and hardwood in the kitchen. From what she could see, she was going to enjoy her stay here.
"Welcome Jannette! Sorry about the harshness but if tomorrow is going to be a very busy day. We need you to get as much rest as possible. Before you take a bath and get you out of those ratty clothes, Do you have any questions?" This was a handful. But, what else was she suppose to tell her? Maybe it will make sense eventually, but for now I have to go with the flow. Only with these people though. The note said not to trust. Jannette shook her head indicating the fact she had no questions. "Okay! Good! Oh I'm Marian Paske by the way. Your mother."
'My mother' Jannette thought 'The one person that everyone would never expect to forget standing right infront of me. And I had no clue who she was' This was pretty heart breaking. For the both of them. But the dare wouldn't show it.
"The bathroom is up to the right and your room is right beside it to the left. We have a pair af pj's in there for you. Your father is fixing that up right now. His name is Lewis Paske I hope that helps jog your memory." I nod and slowly walk up the stairs. Nothing. Nothing crossed her mind when she looked in the eyes of her mother. She slowly turned on the water in the bath and started her shower. She spent a few moment crying in there. When she finished she slowly turned off the water and. Change into the clothes that were left for her. She walked into the room and turned off the lights right away. She needed to sleep. Still heartbroken, she tried to brightend up her mood.
'New Beginings.' She thought 'That's what this whole journey is about. Putting the past behind and finding new beginings.'
