"Abbi you need to find a friend to stay with while we're gone. Maria will be at Heather's for the weekend so if you don't you'll be here alone again." Her mother spoke as she packed her suitcase.

"I'll try." was her only response before she was ushered out of the room. They had only lived here for a year, but even when they lived in Washington she didn't have any friends.

"so mom still doesn't know you're anti-social?" Abbi glared at her older sister. Maria was only a year older than Abbi but she was still in high school because she had missed an entire year of schooling while she was hospitalized. the two sisters couldn't have been more different.

"You could pretend to be friends with Alison, Carrey's sister, she may let you stay over." Maria followed Abbi to her room. Slamming the door shut Abbi collapsed on her bed. School had been hell that day and her sister always knew how to stomp on her nerves. The door opened and Maria entered still going on about how Abbi would never find friends with her attitude.

"I wonder how many friends you would have if they knew you had to be medicated to protect yourself and society?" Abbi snapped. Maria stood shocked as tears welled in her eyes.

"You're such a bitch." Maria ran out of the room and Abbi closed the door then laid back on her patchwork quilt. Her thoughts drifting to the werewolves. I wonder what Ceil and Luca are doing and if they're alright? She let her thoughts consume her shortly before sleep invaded taking her into it's depths.

The air felt good on her face as Abbi walked away from the school.

"freak go back to where you came from!" a kid yelled at the brown haired girl from that day. The moment she recognized her every protective instinct inside Abbi rose to the surface. Energy began to crackle in the air around her.

"Leave her alone!" Abbi felt herself yell. The wolf girl had a gash on her forehead where she had been hit with a rock.

"this isn't your business." one kid yelled. The wind picked up again and Abbi felt the power rise. A crow dove after the little group cawing loudly.

"I said leave her alone!" the power rose again. It felt like a beast roaring to get out, clawing at her as it tried to break free. It built and built crying out to be released, to inflict it's wrath upon her foes. At a time like this it was hard to reign in the energy. Her emotions fueled it, shaped it, gave it life. The intensity met the peak she would allow and the wind picked up, pushing the kids further from the girl. Her hair whipped around her face and the dark clouds above opened up to offer some assistance. The girl rushed to Abbi's side without hesitation and the wind and rain slowed. The two girls headed down the street quickly then ducked under an awning.

"how did you do that?" the girl asked wide eyed.

"do what?" Abbi looked into those bright hazel eyes and then at the gash on her forehead. "are you okay?"

"oh this I'll put a band-aid on it when I get home." she wiped at it with her sleeve.

"by the way I'm Abigail Whitney, you can call me Abbi." Abbi offered her hand.

"I'm Tara." she took the offered hand and instantly they bonded. It wasn't like the shock wave that had passed between her and Luca but Abbi felt it just as keenly. As if somehow they were tied together on a level she was unfamiliar with.

"Maybe we should walk together." Tara nodded then smiled as the two walked in companionable silence until their paths split.

"hey Tara, can you promise me one thing?" she asked as they stood where the road split.
