The day started off with me sitting in my room, reading, as usual. I heard a soft knock at the door but before I had a chance to answer my mom burst in.

"Knocking is used to ask permission to come in, not letting someone know you're about to come in."

I marked my page with my black skull-headed bookmark before setting it down on my nightstand with a sigh.

"What do you need?" I asked in a confused tone.

"Summer is finally here, and instead of enjoying the sun you're sulking in your room with the blinds down! Go outside and get some vitamin D." My mother repllied.

She strolled over to my blocked windows, tugged on the drawstring of my blinds, and painfully bright light flooded my room. I hissed loudly before shielding my eyes. My mom huffed and rolled her eyes before saying, "This is ridiculous Saige. You're fourteen! You're almost ready to learn how to drive, get a job, move out, be on your own, but you don't want to do a single thing to ensure your success! You'd rather sit in your room reading all day."

I frustratedly muttered under my breath before saying out loud, "Fine, what do you want me to do?"

"Right now you can go outside and play with your sisters, you might even get a light tan if you don't melt," she replied with a light chuckle before turning around and walking back out of my room.

After flopping back onto my bed for a moment with a groan, I stood up and looked down at my outfit; it'd probably do me some good to replace all of this black. I was wearing a black skull hoodie and ripped jeans before changing into a light gray owl t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes. I went to walk out of my room before reaching for the mythology book I was reading and getting a lawn chair to relax in outside.

I settled in and opened back to my page before a voice bellowed from an open window over my head, "Play with your sisters!" I jumped with a shriek before glaring at my mom who was cheerfully smiling at me from the window. After a few moments, I got up, stretched, and put my book facedown on the seat before making my way toward my sisters, Zoe and Brooke. They were playing in the front yard in the sprinklers, but since I hate water, I suggested we play their second favorite game - bike racing.

I walked with the girls to grab our bicycles and Zoe, a thirteen-year-old girl with light green eyes, and Brooke, a nine-year-old with eyes only slightly darker as her sisters, cheerfully chatted in front of me. I thought quietly to myself as they pulled out their bikes. They both had green eyes as opposed to my light blue ones, I'd never really understood why, but I'd always felt like they weren't like me at all, sometimes like we weren't even in the same family.

Grinning with our hair whipping in the wind, we pedaled around the corner at the end of the road when our dad walked out of the house and vigorously waved us over.

We pedaled towards him before skidding to a stop at the curb out of breath. He walked forward to meet us at the end of the driveway before asking, "I'm going to the store, does anybody want to come with?" I immediately lit up and volunteered - finally an excuse to get out of the sun!

"Hah, finally we can get back to what we were doing before you came along," sneered Zoe before running back to the sprinkler with Brooke right behind her. I shrugged before climbing into the passenger side of my dad's pickup truck before he followed suit on the driver's side. We sat in silence on the way to the store and while we were shopping, however on the way home we both yelled,

"YARD SALE!"

My dad immediately swerved into the house's driveway. It had a dark ambiance, but the sale seemed to have reasonably exciting stuff, so we went in any way. Without hesitation,I plunged my way into the books, I was a man on a mission looking for fiction. A plump woman waddled out of the house and yelled to my dad, but I didn't pay her any mind because I had just found an enormous box full of books.

I eagerly dug my way through them, sorting out which ones that looked interesting from the one I had already read. I grabbed a worn romance novel and flipped it around to read the summary, and a high pitched buzzing filled my ears. I groaned and grabbed my head before accidentally hitting my head on the bottom of the plastic folding table I was hunched under. I yelped and moved out from underneath before standing up and shaking my head to try and clear the buzzing sound. Once my senses sharpened again, I saw two antique statues sat on top of the table: one of the Greek god Hades and the other of the goddess Athena. Perplexed, I picked them up and twirled the figurines around in my fingers. Why would my two favorite Greek gods be in this random garage sale?

Then I noticed it - the buzzing - or lack thereof. The annoying ringing has disappeared as soon as I grabbed the two idols. After the sudden realization, another strange thing happened; the air was sucked out of my chest, and I collapsed onto my side on the ground as everything swirled into the black.

A bright white plane filled my vision, and I squeezed my eyes shut before squinting and sitting up. I rubbed my eyes and forced them open just to see that the house I was previously at was gone! In fact, EVERYTHING was gone, I was stranded in the middle of nothing. I shakily stood up and began trotting around trying to figure out what happened. As I took a step I Squeaky and tumbled over nothing. "I'm so clumsy" I Said In a Whisper to myself. once I regained my balance, I looked down to see the statues gazing up at me. I hesitated, but I soon picked the figures up once more, I twirled them around in my fingers before dropping them with a gasp as they began to glow a bright green and grow in size. My shock didn't subside as a full grown Athena and Hades suddenly stood before me, breathing, living, and staring down at me as I trembled on the floor in shock. I hastily climbed to my feet and looked up at them towering over me with wide eyes.

I looked at Athena who seemed much less intimidating than the other god who stared down at me. Her eyes seemed to softly shine with wisdom as she gazed down at me. I turned slightly to peer at Hades whose eyes appeared to burn with untamed fires of the underworld as a grin danced on his features. I wanted to reach out, touch one of them, but I was paralyzed. Two gods I've idolized since I was a child were right in front of me!

Athena gently raised her hand and brushed my hair out of my face before gently smiling down at me. "I've longed for this moment since we left you in this world," Athena looked over at the accompanying god, "She's beautiful, wouldn't you agree Hades?"

Hades beamed at me and laughed heartily and replied, "Of course! She has our looks, why wouldn't she be?"

I blinked at the two gods, not registering what was happening. Athena recognized my confusion before saying, "My apologies, Saige, let me explain. I am Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war, but of course, you already know that. You've been obsessed with Greek mythology since you were seven. Of course, there's no need, but this is Hades," she gestured toward the man standing beside her who sent me a wink, but I didn't try to say anything. "We are your parents."

My mouth gaped open, and I stumbled on my words; I had so many questions, but only one mouth.

Athena simply smiled at me and gently put a finger to my lips to quiet my ramblings, "I know you have a lot to say, and a lot to ask, but we do not have much time. You must know one thing; you were born of two Greek gods, us, as Saige, the goddess of leadership and strategy, among other things. We came here to warn you ahead of time that you will be leading a large battalion into a war against Zeus. You and the other two demigods will be enlisting troops. Make sure to take the statues before returning home the woman will not notice their absence. Ares will bring you to us in two days, be prepared. We love you."

My vision started swirling once again, and I woke up to find myself lying on the ground in the same spot I initially passed out with the statues sitting upright directly in front of my face. I scrunched up my nose, thinking about what just happened. Without a word I slipped the idols into my pocket and stood up before walking over to the car to meet my dad.

Questions whirled through my mind like shooting stars. When Athena said "The other two,"did she mean kids like me? Are they my age? Who are they? Are they my siblings? Was that a dream? If not, why would my supposed parents wait for so long to tell me I was a goddess? How did I not know, how was I not able to display my godly powers? I supposed the only thing I could do at the moment was getting ready. Ares was going to pick me up in two days! Would the other two be there as well?
