I pick up the box with Hermes' shoes in pick and stick it in my bag. "If I'm right we are in the outskirts of Richmond now, I'm not sure how we get out of the woods, but if anyone has a compass, then we can go south to Florida."
"Ugh, Just take us there already I can't stand being in the woods one more minute," Des said disgustedly
I stuck Hermes' box into my backpack before turning back to Jackson. "If I'm correct, we are on the outskirts of Richmond now, but I'm not sure how we get out of the woods. If anyone has a compass, we can start going south towards Florida."
Jackson started to search his bag as he chuckled. "I've got anything you'll ever need my dear." He continued to search through the bag before looking up and sending me an awkward grin. "Uh...other a compass. However luckily for us, I am a compass!" He started walking in what I guessed was south, and Phoenix, Des, Chewy, and I followed him. Des nudged my shoulder and held me back before whispering to me, "Hey, do you think he knows where he's going?" I gave Jackson a quick glance. "Honestly? No, I don't, but I also have no clue where to go so I'll let him be the leader," I whispered back to her. We continued walking for what felt like another hour until we heard and saw a large rustling in the trees ahead of us. We immediately stopped, unsure of whether the sound was a threat or not; it was clearly a huge animal, some of the trees appeared to move out of the mysterious creatures way. Des whipped her hand to her hairbrush dagger, Chewy emitted a low growling from his chest before leaping out of my backpack to prepare to grow, and I lost it at Chewy. He couldn't change in front of Jackson , he would realize I'm not a typical demigod! Chewy stopped before the transformation finished and turned to look at me. He then let out an ear-ripping, fierce bark - he would change into a hellhound if it meant protecting me.
"No one freak out, but get your weapons at the ready," Jackson ordered. Phoenix and I reached for our bows and arrows, Des switched out her blade, and Jackson Whipped Out a shield. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the border of the shield was comprised of snakes and Medusa's big, ugly head was in the center of it. I immediately recognized the piece, Aegis, Athena's shield. How did He get his hands on it?
Jackson took a guard position before quietly signaling he would provide us cover. Everyone took a breath and the trees trembled one more time and then something fell out of trees landing on its horns. "Ouch!" it cried unhappily. I blinked once at what we had perceived to be a threat before stepping forward and examining the fallen creature. My eyes scanned over it to see goat's legs, a human torso and head, and small horns on top of long, curly hair. The creature then proceeded to sigh a little and look to me for help. "Hey my horns are stuck in the ground, can one of you help a girl out?" Despite confused looks from the boys, Des and I quickly jogged over to her and began to pull on her hooves. Finally, after multiple grunts, sighs, and even a frustrated "Baa!" from the goat girl, we finally got her unstuck. When she pulled free the momentum sent Des and I flying backward onto our butts, and the goat girl huffed and began feeling her horns. "Thank you so much," she said with a cheerful smile. She stuck her hands out and pulled Des and me up to standing before shaking our hands. "I'm Julu, the satyr of these woods. What brings you here?"
I hadn't really gotten a good look at her when her horns were stuck in the ground, so I took a moment to take in her appearance. First, I took in her human top half to see a soft pink hoodie covering her torso, her hair was a nicely shaped pink ombre bob, her eyes were a soft gray and of course the short, slender, and slightly curved horns I noticed earlier. I then took a look at her bottom, goaty half. Her rump and legs were covered with soft looking, gray fur dotted with little white markings.
I returned her smile and quickly greeted myself. "I'm Saige, demigod of Athena, and my group and I are trying to get out of these woods so we can reach Florida." "Oh! I know the woods better than anyone, I can help you out. After all, I do owe you for helping me get unstuck," Julu replied with a cheerful bounce. She took a moment to straighten herself out and brush the remaining dirt off of her legs, and Des and I did the same. I watched her observing the rest of my party before jumping a bit when I realized I never introduced them. "Also this is Des,Jackson, and Phoenix." Each person smiled and waved when greeted, and the guys put their weapons away.
