Back to school. I loved school. Yes, I am a nerd, but so what? At least I'll be someone someday when the bullies aren't. That's what my dad used to always say.

I'm Marissa John, but my dad used to call me Red. I'm seventeen. I have fiery red hair, green eyes and pale skin. I'm short and not too fat or model slim, just average. My mum passed away when I was three and my dad passed away when I was sixteen. After my mum had passed away, dad had re-married and my step mother had two kids of her own, who were my age. They were twins. Harris and Hannah. I attend Daisy Valley High School and I'm in my senior year along with the twins.

Hannah is the typical, popular chick. Blond hair, blue eyes, slim body and all round Miss Perfect. To say that she was a bitch, would be an understatement. She was the right hand of the devil. She always had to have things done her way, or no way at all. All the guys wanted her, and probably did have her, and all the girls wanted to be her. She had to have the latest clothes or else all hell would break loose. Hannah had to visit the mall at least once a week so that she 'kept with the times'! I mean come on, how often does fashion change!

I, on the other hand, was comfortable with band and character tees and jeans, which annoyed the crap out of Hannah. She refused to acknowledge my existence in school and constantly poked fun at me along with her cronies. I never let her get to me though. To me, she was just a bump on the road.

Harris is the total opposite of Hannah in so many ways. Although he is just as popular, maybe even more, he's the most down to earth person ever. He stands by me whenever Hannah's claws come out and sometimes sits with me at lunch, whenever he can. He has short brownish-blond, spiky hair and blue eyes. He's super muscular and is the captain of our school's football team and has taken his team through to multiple winnings. He has loyal friends and his best friend is the school's bad boy, Carter Holmes.

Carter is not cute, he's freaking gorgeous! He has black hair with blue streaks and the most bluest eyes that I have ever seen. He has an 8 pack that every single girl in school drools over. The highlight for some of them are when the boys are practising and the shirts come off! It's really ridiculous, but sometimes, even I find myself staring at Carter. He has a blue Mustang with red and green graphics on it, that I had designed for him. Yes, I, the nerd of Daisy Valley High School, am friends with Carter Holmes. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration. I just designed the graphics for him. After seeing the design that I had done for Harris' car, Carter told Harris to tell me to design something for him, and he liked it!

"Red! I hope you're ready, we're leaving in 5!" Harris shouted from downstairs.

"Coming!" I shouted. I had no car, because Hannah had to have the latest Audi, which costed an arm and a leg, and my step mother bought it for her and said that I should just ride with her because she cannot buy another car for me. I agreed. But I never got to ride in the Audi from the day that Hannah got it. I would sometimes take the bus to school or if Harris was leaving at the same time to school as me, he'd give me a ride. He usually goes early to school to practice with the guys.

"Carter's coming to get us," Harris informed me and I was stunned.

"Er why? Where's your car?" I asked.

"I'm getting my windows tinted today. Had to drop off my car last night. Why? You scared of blushing near Carter? You know you looove him!"

"Pshh! Why would I be scared of that glorified drawing board! And I don't looove him!" I chuckled nervously.

"Drawing board?"

"Er, yeah, you know, with all those tattoos on his body, one would think that he's a drawing board!"

"Holy crap!" Harris said, laughing, "that's flipping epic! I have to tell him that one! And tell him that you looove him!"

"No Harris! Don't you dare tell Carter!" I said, chasing him around the table, armed with the dish cloth and we didn't even realise that Carter was in the house.

"Don't tell Carter what?" Carter asked, making me freeze.

"Dude, don't you dare!" I yelled at Harris, "I'll tell Dana about the time that I had to drive you home from a party when you were pissed drunk out of your mind, despite the fact that you were grounded!"

"Okay, okay!" Harris said, holding up his hands in the air in mock surrender, "I won't tell!"

"Come on you freaks, let's get going!" Carter said with a smile.

Dana is my step mother. She's good to me, but I'm always the last person that she thinks of. She always makes sure that Harris and Hannah have the best things first and then she tries to make a plan for me. I'm never the first thought for her. But I don't mind it. I don't like the attention anyway.
