4: Preparing and a little hope

"Five minutes, suit up everyone".

Natasha and Banner went their way to their rooms as Steve and Rocket talked a little. Carol sighs as she walk her way to where the guest room is when Thor walked passed by her in a cold and serious manner. She felt a bit sad that his treating her like she don't belong in here.

Carol had finished wearing her suit as she stared at her reflection. Many things had happened ever since she came here on earth. Her hidden past, her connection to Mar-Vell, the true intention of the Kree and the Skrulls being the good guys who wanted to go home. Of course she missed visiting this planet, after all, being a hero saving other planets is a tiring one. She looked at her left arm as she pushed the button in it, turning it on as her signature suit came to light. She crack her knuckles as she tried smiling at her reflection.

Banner sighs as he finished changing his clothes. After the events of the decimation he had been in great dread. The memories of the tradegy and death of the asgardians that made him clench his fist in the memory. He inhales sharply when Natasha can be seen standing on the front door, arms crossed. Banner gulped a bit as he sighs.

"I became hulk for two years..".he started as Natasha stared at him. He grabbed the towel on the edge of the bed as he sighs."I fell on a thrash planet, lost myself the urge to come back and because of my guilt after what happened on sokovia... i finally let the little self control i have left dissapear". he said as Natasha sighs softly, walking towards him as Banner looks down."I tried to stop you but.. i guess its the other guy's decision isn't it?".she said as Banner looks away.

"Thor came, he said we fight which he said he won though i doubt that..I think the other guy followed him on the broken quinjet and that's where i saw your video... its been two years Nat, and you.. despite my doubts.. you gave me the power again to turn back".he said as Natasha smiled a bit, moving her hand to caress Banner's cheek as he closed his eyes shut.

"I'm sorry..".he muttered as Natasha used her other hand to give him a warm hug as he lay his head on her shoulder."It's okay... it's not your fault".she said as they both lean away from each other but their faces still close.

"What matters is you're fine...your back here and your still you.. ".she said as Banner couldn't hide nor deny it any longer, he lean in to smash his lips against Natasha's as she quickly kissed back, wrapping her arms around his neck as he pulled her close.

Carol had finished readying herself and was about to grab her new pager when she noticed Thor, who surprisingly walk pass her room then stopped as he looked at her. Carol looked back as she saw how serious and quite unapproachable he is.

"Uhmm, do you need something?".she asked as Thor exhales sharply."Just some jacket, Banner said he left it there".he said as Carol went back to fold the clothes she just borrowed from Natasha as Thor walk inside, walking his way to the wardrobe as he grab the gray jacket from the hanger. Carol glanced at him secretly as Thor closed the wardrobe, leaving the room like she was never there as she exhales softly.

Steve had wandered around the headquarters as he went to the storage room. He venture deeper to find the box he had been finding. He grabs it, opening it to see his old costume he used when he first discovered Bucky's alive. A soft determined smile stretch its way to his cheek as he grab the suit.

Rhodes had made sure to repair and put some new stuff on his iron suit. Rocket can be seen loading his powered energy gun as they share a high five.

Natasha and Banner came out as Natasha loaded her hand guns and bought some useful weapons she could carry. Banner sighs as he grabbed the black glasses on the table and wore it as he smiled a bit.

Coincidentally, Thor and Carol came out in the same time. Thor, wearing the grey jacket and the stormbreaker in his grasp while Carol wore her signature suit and did her hair a bit curl in the end. Rhodes and Rocket had finished readying themselves.

"Nice new girl, you have a one good hell of a suit".Rhodes smirked as Carol uttered a soft thank you.

"You guys ready?".

They all turn their heads to look at Steve wearing his signature captain america suit. Natasha grinned as Rhodes smirked in approval."Way to go, Cap".he said as Rocket stares in awe."So this is the Captain America".he said in marvel as Steve smirked and rolled his eyes playfully.

"The quinjet is ready".Natasha said as he nodded in determination.

The remaining avengers, with Carol walk their way to where the quinjet is. The avengers theme playing in the background as rocket smiled, amazed at the new guys he is with. Thor simply glanced at Carol while she did the same. Banner walked a bit clumsily as Rhodes grinned a bit.

Everyone can be seen sitting on their sits as Rocket handle the pilot. Rhodes can be seen aiding Rocket as Natasha and Banner sat beside each other. Thor and Steve sat beside each other while Carol is in the sit on the corner close to Thor.

"What if Pepper died on the snap?".Rhodes asked, a little doubtful as Steve looked at him with a determined look. Thor and the others looked at Steve as he inhaled sharply.

"Then we figure this out, together..no matter how hard it'll be..".he said as Natasha smiled softly."We owe this, in everyone who is not in this moment to try".she smiled as she pat her hand on Banner's shoulder."Whatever it takes".Steve said as Rocket sniffed a little.

"Okay, enough with the drama you guys...".Banner said as they chuckled a little.

"Everyone ready?".Rocket asked as the others nodded. Steve glanced to check the others while Carol can be seen glancing at Thor who secretly glanced back at her as Rhodes and Rocket started the quinjet."Hang on tight folks, and please..don't throw up on the ship".he warned as Natasha chuckled a little. Banner rolled his eyes playfully.

Thor knew how the decimation had affected him. He wanted to let the guilt and the pain he had been feeling corrupt him in the way to grow his anger and hatred towards Thanos that gave him the reason to never smile nor be himself again. But seeing the remaining avengers, their small smiles though hiding the worry, the panic and pain they've felt made him realize he wouldn't let the aftermath change him. He saw hope and belief that his brother's words would be true if they could work this out.

The sun will shine on us again brother...

And in that moment, he smiled, smiled for the first time in two days, watching the quinjet move and fly their way to where Tony lives. Oblivious to him the soft smile stretching its way on Carol's cheek as she glanced away.
