Part 4/Betrayed

June's POV

Hazel wakes me up an hour before my real awake, because she couldn't sleep. So she demands me to play with her, even though I could be sleeping right now.

"Seriously Hazel, just let me sleep." I say probably for the hundredth time. "But playing is more fun." Hazel exclaims and holds my hand. "Listen Hazel," I lift her up to my bed. "I have school today and it starts very early, that's why I want as long as possible."

"School sucks."

"Yes it does." I laugh lightly.

Hazel hugs me quickly and leaves my room. I check the clock from my phone, I still have 50 minutes to sleep. I turn off my table lamp and lay back down.

Right when I'm falling asleep, my phone starts ringing. Heathens from Twenty One Pilots is playing, so it's my best friend Harley Bloomwoods. Her ringtone is Heathens, because Suicide Squad is one our favorite movies and we watched so many times together back in New York. And both of our names are in it.

I sigh standing up. I pick up my phone and answer to it.

"Hey June!" Harley squeals. "Hi.." I mumble out quietly. "Is something wrong?"

"Yeah.." I sigh. "What? Tell me right now!"

"So, my best friend called Harley Bloomwoods just called me. Right when I was falling asleep. And guess what, my school day starts really early today." I explain slowly. "Har har." She says from the other side of the line. "You scared me! I thought something bad had happened to you."

I laugh and lay down. "How's San Fransisco?"

"Uhm, it's good, yeah." I say yawning. "How about your dad?" Harley asks, concern lacing in her voice. "Let's not talk about that, okay?"

"Okay." I hear her sigh. "Have you seen any cute boys there?"

"Harley!" I start laughing. "I'm with Daniel, so no." I smile to myself.

"Okay, okay, but what about that boy you told me?"

"Alex," I laugh. "He definitely gets the most annoying person ever trophy." I tell her and Harley starts laughing.

"Have you gotten new friends?" Harley asks more quietly. "Nah, not really. I miss you and Daniel." I whisper. "We miss you too love."

I smile to myself again, I wish they were here.

"Have fun there, please, you deserve it."

"Yeah yeah." I mumble. "Seriously June Mackenzie Simons, promise me."

"Wow, this can't be that important." I giggle lightly.

We usually use each other's full names if the thing very important.

"It is! I want you to have fun, but be careful and remember to use a c-.." I interrupt her by screaming. Harley just starts laughing. "I hate you."

"I love you too hun, bye now!" Harley says and ends the phone call.

I throw my phone to the side table and go back under the covers, trying fall asleep again. But then, the most annoying thing happens, my alarm clock starts ringing. I throw my cover to the floor and shut my alarm clock in frustration. This is not my day.

I haven't really talked to anyone today, I'm worried about Daniel. I have called him at least ten times, but he hasn't answered me yet. Usually he answers straight away.

Finally my phone starts ringing, in lunch break. It's Daniel. I go to the side, so I could have some peace. I answer my phone happily. First  I can't hear anything, but then I start hearing weird noises, like kissing noises.

"Daniel?" I ask for him carefully.

"Daniel." I hear another feminine voice moan. Then the kissing sounds continued.

"Samantha I.." Kissing noises. "I love you." I hear Daniel say.

I feel a pain in my chest, is he cheating on me?

"What about the girl, June?" The girl, Samantha, asks.

I feel tears making their way up to my eyes.

Daniel chuckles. "I didn't love her, I dated her because I pitied her."

I feel my heart breaking in pieces. Daniel has been cheating on me the whole time? He never felt any feelings towards me?

I couldn't keep the tears at bay anymore. I stop the call and shut my phone completely. I run out of the canteen, not really caring about looks I'm getting. I just need to get out of here.

I ran out, to the school's front yard. My vision is much blurrier because of the tears. I walk for a while, before I slump down to my knees, to the cold grass. I throw my phone to the asphalt road and starts crying loudly. No one is here, so nobody hears me. Or so I thought.

I feel someone's arms around me. "Let go of me!" I yell and start trashing around. "June, calm down." I hear a familiar voice say. "Calm down."

The voice continues saying that, until my screams are just whispers and soon, they're nothing. I don't have the energy to do anything anymore. I just am, on the grass, in someone's arms, crying.

I lift my head to see, who was holding me. In my surprise I see Alex' face. I quickly leave his arms and wipe my tears away, while trying to avoid eye contact with him.

"June." Alex says while standing up.

"Don't." I say sharply and pick up my phone.

"What's wrong?"

I continue staring my now broken phone. Soon I feel the tears again, but now I'm really trying to hold them back. I don't want to cry, not in front of Alex.

"June.." He puts his arm on my shoulder.

"Do not touch me." I say loudly and yank my shoulder away from his hand. "June, please tell me what's wrong."

"That's none of your business!" I shout and keep my gaze on the ground.

"June, you need to calm down." Alex slightly raises his voice. He puts his both hands on the sides of my head, lifting my gaze up to him.

"Let go of me!" I yell again, starting to sink back down onto my knees. Like my legs couldn't keep me up anymore, like they are giving up. Alex sinks down with me, still holding my head.

"Don't.." I sniff. "Don't let go of me." I whisper and lean into Alex' chest.

He puts his arms around me tightly. "Don't worry, I'm never letting go."

I feel my eye lids staring to close, I couldn't see anything, I couldn't hear anything. I fall asleep in Alex' arms, in the middle of our school's yard.

Daniel betrayed me..

Alex cares..

Those were my last thoughts.
