Gabriel watches Sam with complete fear behind his eyes, "Sam--"
"You can't stop me from doing this Gabriel, it's my own choice." Sam states, holding the blade towards his wrist.
Gabriel nods, "I know. I was going to tell you to be careful. If you feel like you're about to die, please notify me as I may not be able to tell."
Sam smiles kindly and he props himself again the wall, "Thank you, Gabe."
Gabriel watches as Sam slices open one wrist before moving to do the other, letting the knife clatter to the ground afterward. Sam's chest rises and falls uneasily, his breath becoming heavier as more blood rushes from his wounds. The blood starts to pool around Sam and Gabriel becomes more wary that Sam is losing a lot of blood from cutting vertically. He goes to place his hands on Sam forehead, "don't. I can feel it working, I just need a little longer." Sam states, his words seem to become more tangled within each other, his voice wavering. Gabriel kneels beside him, his two fingers at the ready. He watches in complete horror as the light begins to leave the hunters eyes and he presses his fingers to Sam's forehead finally.
Sam's eyes stare helplessly ahead of him and he stays like that, his eyes motionless even after Gabriel shakes him, "Sam!" Tears start to burn the backs of his eyes. "Dean! Castiel!" There's rushing footsteps before the door is slammed open, Dean and Castiel staring at Sam's limp body.
"What happened?" Dean shouts before seeing the cut marks on his wrist, "did you let him do this to himself?" His voice grows more, if possible.
Gabriel's breath wavers and the tears flood his face, his voice strains. "I tried to heal him. He--"
Dean's voice cuts through his like a knife, "Did you know?"
"Dean, this is irrational, he--" Castiel begins to try to defend his brother when he is interrupted.
Gabriel nods, "I knew." He pauses, "I tried to heal him though and it didn't work. I..."
Dean feels obliged to hurt the Angel but he can see how broken up he is about the situation and manages to control himself. He moves over towards them, Gabriel and Castiel half expecting Dean to punch Gabriel but instead he kneels by Sam's body and closes his eyelids. "I'll... I'll fix this." Dean says, his voice wavering.
"No, Dean, this isn't yours to fix... It's mine." Gabriel says quietly.
Dean snaps at him, "It is your problem but I owe you for saving my own life, twice so let me help you."
"I don't deserve that... Not for this." Gabriel states, his tears have now stopped but are instead staining his cheeks which he tries to rub at violently.
Dean glances at Castiel and then back at Gabriel, "I don't care, you're like family and if anything happened to you then I don't know what I would do, that's the truth. Plus, Castiel and Sam wouldn't forgive me if anything happened to you."
"What do you propose on doing, Dean? You know we won't forgive you if anything happened to you too." Castiel states.
Dean's gaze meets Castiel's, a lump forming in his throat as he holds back his tears. "I said I'll fix this, all right? Just trust me." He looks at them both, "Give me a minute with my brother, please." They nods silently and reluctantly leave.
Dean's heart skips a beat, "Billy? Are you still here?"
"I am. It's ironic to think Sam would die this way, actually. I always thought you two would die on a case or by someone like Lucifer, not by suicide." The Reaper admits.
Dean nods, "That's what I thought too but that isn't the case. He wasn't meant to die, if you could just... Take me instead or we could make some other type of deal. Whatever you want."
This seems to peak her interest a little. "I do have a deal for you, actually. I will bring your brother back to life if you break all ties with everyone you've ever cared about. You will walk the Earth, alone, for six months before I come and get you to take you back to your family."
Dean rakes a hand through his hair, "What do you expect me to do? So I walk the Earth on my own with no company at all for six months?"
Billy nods, "That's exactly what I want you to do. But I also wish for you to break their hearts." She gestures to Sam, "him, Castiel and Gabriel."
"How do you expect me to do that under a truth syrum?" Dean questions her.
The Reaper smiles a little, "When I bring Sam back to life I can get rid of his easily and yours too, it's weak magic compared to my own."
Dean nods slowly, "And what if they come for me?"
"I can ward you against tracking, you may leave your phone here, I can get you a new credit card as well and a new car. It will stop them from tracking you and that is also why you get to move around a lot, move to another country for all I care just don't let them find you. Otherwise, I'll kill them." She pauses, "I'll even protect everyone you care about from death until the six months are over with."
Dean thinks a little before nodding, "All right, deal." She hands him the knife from the floor and he easily cuts his hand open, she does the same and then they shake hands.
She smiles, "Pleasure doing business with you Dean." She nods before disappearing.
Sam's eyes fly open and he gasps for air. Dean wants to kneel by his side, to comfort his brother but he must stick to his deal. "Dean, what the hell happened? I died. Dean, how am I alive?"
Dean hears the fear in Sam's voice but forces himself to get passed it. "Sam I've got to go for a long time. I can't expect you to understand but I need to go."
"Dean, where do you have to go? Is everything all right?" Sam's voice cracks and Dean's heart breaks a little.
Dean snaps at him, hoping it will help the process for him to leave. "I have to go Sam. I can't tell you where, I can't tell you how long I'll be gone for but I need time away from all of this. I need time away from you, I'm sick of your nonsense." He doesn't even look towards Sam before leaving the room and he chokes down the tears which threaten to leak.
"Dean, is everything all right?" Gabriel asks.
Dean nods, "Everything's fine, Sam needs you right now, all right?" Gabriel's eyes light up before he goes into the room.
Castiel looks at Dean, "What did you do, Dean?"
Dean forces himself to not look into Castiel's eyes for he knows they will make him weak at this point, they'll make him weak enough to stay. "Cass, I never loved you and I can't do this anymore. I used you, all of this time. I used all of you. I wanted you to know this before I go away for a while. You deserved to know the truth." Dean's voice breaks as he speaks and he can see the disbelief in Castiel's eyes, dammit, he looked into his eyes.
"Dean, you can't mean that..." Castiel tries to justify this somehow in his head but he thinks about the truth syrum, he still has it in his system, or at least that's what they think.
Dean nods, "I do, I'm sorry, Castiel." He turns away from him and walks away, his footsteps fading into nothingness.
