Shiro got up and walked slowly out of the training area and to his room, not bothering to even say anything to the other paladins, not even Keith. Once in his room, he closed the doors behind him, leaned up against them, and that's when it all broke loose. He couldn't hold back as the tears began to pour down his face and sobs wracked his entire body. Shiro just sat there crying, from all the guilt and pain. He didn't know what to do, so he just cried.
About half an hour later, Shiro was able to calm down a little, and regain his composure. He still had tear tracks on his cheeks, but he didn't notice, he had been so wracked with guilt, grief, and pain, he didn't even notice them. He took a few breaths, and regained his composure, as he readied himself to back out to the other paladins.
As he walked out to the paladins, they were all sitting in a circular formation, excluding Lance, who was somewhere other than the current location due to Shiro's presence. Shiro quietly gasped at the sight, a look of confusion clearly showing on his face, with a hint of depression. "What's wrong, Shiro? " Allura asked with such a sweet voice it made Shiro want to cry again, but he held it together.
"It's nothing, I'm fine... " Shiro mumbled, just loud enough for them to here. "No, your not fine, and I'm not gonna let this go until you tell me what's going on, so you mine as well tell me. " Keith said, as he gently took his older brother's hand, and guided him to the seating area of the large room.
Shiro took a deep, yet shaky breath and explained it to them, but what he didn't know, was that Lance was hiding in the perfect spot to listen in on the conversation without being spotted but it was proving hard to keep quiet, for Lance was having a hard time trying not to cry himself.
As Shiro began telling the story, his eyes began tearing up, and tears once again, began pouring down his face. "He said, that I was a disgrace to Voltron, that I was just any other one of Zarkon's generals, always following my own selfish impulses..." Lance could here the brokenness in his leader's voice and that's all it took to almost make him break down into hysterical sobbing, but still, he held it together, because he couldn't afford to give away his hiding place. "He even said that he couldn't believe that he called me his hero and that he never wanted to see my disgusting face again. " Shiro sobbed, the other paladins gently rubbing his back and hugging him, wrapping him in blankets, telling him it was gonna be okay and that it wasn't his fault. "But I guess it was for a reason, I mean, I have been acting really mean these past few years, so guess this is the punishment I deserve and I should just stop being a damn baby and suck it up. " Shiro choked out through tears.
