This is a Resident Evil/DMC cross over. However, there are no spoilers or anything so even if you're not into RE then just think of this as a Nero x Reader in the zombie apocalypse!

Walking down the deserted streets with Nero was usually a nice thought. We would talk about whatever came to mind, usually having funny little arguments that leave us laughing and needing to cover each others mouths to keep us quiet so we don't bring any unwanted attention to ourselves. We'd usually talk about things that we did before the world went to shit, reminiscing about the good old times instead of being depressed about it.

However, now was much different.

Nero wasn't walking close by my side like he usually does. He wasn't laughing, smiling or even looking in my direction like he usually does. Instead, he walked ahead of me, hand resting lazily on the handle of his sword that was upon his tense shoulders. He's the muscle, killing any threat that comes my way with that damn sword. I wouldn't be here without him.

With the zombie apocalypse looming over our heads every second of every day, Nero helped ease the pain of what should be a lonely, fearful life. It's been the two of us, alone together for two and a half months now, having met during the end of the world instead of before. We've met few people in the time of knowing each other, but they've either tried to betray us or got eaten by the dead.

But now, it wasn't just the two of us. We had a run in with a newbie cop, Leon Kennedy, is his name. At that point we didn't want another member to add to the team, but he was all alone and seemed like he had gone through hell. Plus, he was around both mine and Nero's age, maybe a year younger. There was no way I would let the poor guy leave on his own, no matter how much Nero had to grumble about the subject.

Nero doesn't like Leon.

Leon hangs about for about two weeks, helping kill zombies and scavenge for supplies like food and water. He was nice and charming, not too bad in the looks department, too. Nero shouldn't have had any reason to hate the poor guy, but he did and he made it very noticeable. I on the other hand, was getting pretty close to Leon, enjoying his company and the help he was willingly offering.

I walk casually beside Leon, accidentally bumping into him a few times from weak legs after having no food for two days now. We are all hungry, tired and weak… but we need to keep moving. It would have been much harder if I were alone, having people to talk to definitely took my mind off of the hunger for a while before it became too unbearable.

“Seven…” Leon points out yet another old piece of graffiti that reads ‘Fuck the Police’ along the side of the building in faded red letters. I chuckle after reading the words, turning to pout at him in a mocking manner.

“Just think of it differently. Like, someone has a kink for cops” I chuckle, probably not making any sense due to lack of food. However, the following soft laughter that comes from Leon makes me feel like maybe I am making some sense… or none at all and he's laughing at me instead of with me.

“Ah… you want me to make it literal. Who would have such a specific kink?” Leon asks with a scoff hidden under his tone.

“I mean, people have a kink for men in uniform… and you're pretty cute. I could see people having a kink for you in uniform, Kennedy” I laugh like a drunk teenager, the hunger clearly getting to me. However before either me or Leon can add to the pile of worst conversations to have in the apocalypse, Nero jumps in.

“Can we stop saying the word ‘kink’?” His tone his harsh but also quiet, like he's embarrassed or something. I frown at the back of his head in thought before sending Leon an apologetic look, deciding to keep the chit chat to a minimum for now, not wanting to set Nero on edge. It's not very fun for anyone when he's pissed off.
