This is a situation that most of us in the Trans/Enby community remember well.
In August 2017, President Trump proposed a ban on Transgender Troops serving in the military.
The ban did not go into effect, and there were plenty of people taking action. The tag #transrightsarehumanrights spread like wildfire.
And now, we must take action again.
As of April 2019 - a ban is now in place, blocking transgender individuals from openly serving in the military. If an individual receives HRT or sex-change surgery at any point in their life, they are not allowed to join the military.
The policy is discriminating against people in our community, and as my username states: We Can't Back Down. This is our lives. This is our community.
Sharon McGowan stated in response to this ban; "the notion that somebody should have to walk away from life-saving medical care in order to continue serving their country, for lack of better words, is absurd, cruel, and just shows how completely upside down this policy is."
