The next morning Imperta collected Robin and Janette and took them to the great hall where Nealon and Prince Carvenic were talking over many things as they did frequently.
"Ha, there you are now we can get started, Robin you sit by Newton, I understand that he likes you." The Prince giggled as he patted the dork who looked at Robin then panted affectionately.
"You sit next to me Janette. There are drinks and fruit for all, please help yourselves." Nealon told them.
"Well, have you reached a decision?" The Prince asked looking first at Robin then at Janette, then noticed that Imperta was just about to walk towards the door.
"No Imperta, I would like you to stay also please sit down." The Prince requested.
"Yes, we have had a good talk. As it was said before, if we can get back to our own world." Janette started to say but was interrupted by Nealon.
"That are the very words this discussion hinges on. 'If you can get back.' You see, you are the first ever to enter Tarakmi 'The Land of Magic'. The portal that you entered through has now been closed. It opens for just three minutes every eclipse of the two moons, which means that you have got to stay for at least one year. Then if you do go back through same portal that was opened to you on your earth, it will only allow you in. But would never be there again, not ever!" Nealon making sure that they really understood.
"Well, what Janette was about to say was we would like to stay here in Tarakmi." Robin commented.
"Well, if that is indeed your final answer then I have no objection." The Prince told them looking at Nealon asked.
"Have you any objections Nealon.?"
"No, none at all. There are a few formalities which I must explain to you, and both of you must abide to them." Nealon answered as he drew his pipe out once again from his pocket.
"First, you will be enrolled in the 'Quinsey Academy of Magic' where you will be for the next four years, learning the mystery and art of magic, learning about wizards, witches, spells and alchemy. I have volunteered to be your mentor and guardian which means that you will live in a wing of my own home now that is the good part." Nealon continued puffing on his pipe.
"Yes, I think I can speak for both of us." Janette started to say.
"Well, you usually do, so continue." Nealon interrupted and giggled which made Janette smile as well.
"Yes, that's only because I'm invariably right and know the questions to ask." Janette responded not even aware that she was being comical.
"What my dear sister is trying to get out Nealon is that we accept all your conditions. We are most grateful to you and his Majesty Prince Carvenic for accepting us into The Land of Magic. We will endeavour to make both of you proud of us. Thank you, thank you both very much." Acting more like a man than a boy.
"Yes, we will make you proud of us." Janette said boldly determine the last word would be hers. Nealon and the Prince laughed heartily.
"Nealon, you said that was the good part, what is the bad part?" Robin asked now sounding serious.
"Unfortunately, Robin, this is where I come in." Prince Carvenic responded.
"Reports from my senior officers indicate that small groups of Barnameions were seen at three different locations, I have also heard from Imperta that they could be only about fifty miles from the Castle. They have never been bold enough to come this close before." The Prince continued.
