Roman tapped his fingers on the prosecution desk, watching the judge read the charges. He had read this many times before.
Judge Thomas looked to Logan, hoping for him to give his opening statement. As Logan went up to the stand, Roman looked over at Virgil on trial.
He was glad that Logan was defending him, actually. This would give Virgil a fighting chance. Roman knew Virgil didn't do it, but he had to prove it anyway. Virgil was with him at the time of the crime, and yet he had no idea why he was prosecuting. He was probably also going to be called to the witness stand, seeing as there were only a few people here.
All the sides Thomas knew of.
"I call the witness Patton to the stand," Logan said, adjusting his glasses.
Patton popped into the witness stand, already smiling. "Hey, Logan, nice to see you!"
Thomas still believed that Roman hated Virgil. But that really could not be farther from the truth, and only Virgil and Roman knew that.
"Yeah, I had seen Virgil trying to mess with Thomas' functions," Patton said, as Roman snapped back to reality. "He was right outside the door when I saw him. And when I called out, he ran away."
"Hm, interesting. Are you 100% sure this was actually Virgil?" Logan asks, and Patton's eyebrows furrow.
Of course, it's not Virgil. Virgil was with Roman.
"I'm... not 100%, but I did have the weird feeling that something was off. I'm not sure if it was because it wasn't Virgil or with whatever Virgil was doing." Patton chuckles nervously.
"Alright, thank you. Roman, I pass the questioning to you." Logan smirks at Roman, knowing he would win. Roman didn't return the favor, only walking to his stand.
"Hey Roman! Isn't being a lawyer fun?" Patton smiles, leaning his elbows on the table.
"It very much is, Patton." Roman plasters on a smile. "So, Patton, what was Virgil like when he first came to the vlogs?"
"Um... He was kinda antagonizing and really mean, trying to get Thomas to see the worst in every situation. Trying to take control, I guess." Patton rubs the back of his neck.
Roman felt really bad bringing up that time. But it was necessary.
"Did the person trying to get into the door look like Virgil?" Roman questioned.
"Yeah, he looked a whole heck of a lot like Virgil, he even had the hair and jacket just right!" Patton smiles.
"And was his attitude like Virgil?"
"Yeah, hunched and I could almost feel the self-deprecation. I will fight you." Patton pointed at Virgil.
"Great, thank you, Patton."
Patton is teleported back to the jury box, looking concerned at Roman.
"Next witness is Roman."
Next thing he knows, Roman is seated in the witness box.
"Roman, were you near the scene of the crime at the time it occurred?" Logan questions.
"No, I was not, I was in my room coming up with new ideas for Thomas' videos," I answer, fiddling with my tie.
"Were you focused on anything happening to the control of your arm?"
"No, Thomas was playing Kingdom Hearts 3 when I was thinking of ideas and basking in the glory of Disney, as per usual," I say, looking at my nails. "It was a cutscene. He wasn't exactly playing anything at the moment. And as Patton said, Virgil only got to the door, didn't he?"
