"Maria's been pretty weird lately. One day she's depressed and suicidal and the next she's partying and happy. People can tell there's something wrong. I think she's scared that Chico's dad will find out. He's a monster. She's in this situation because of me. I can't help but feel guilty." You say and sigh. You and Marcus are in the room you share. Master Lin had given you both a room to share as he was too busy to find roommates for the two of you. Marcus is sitting on his bed. You're laying down with your head in his lap and he's playing with your hair, trying to calm you down.
"Y/N, it's not your fault. Chico was going to kill you. She did what she had to. Look at how close you two have gotten. She cares for you." Marcus says. You sit up and swing your legs over the side of the bed. "What is it?" Marcus asks as you get up and walk into the bathroom. You take your shirt off and look at your ribs in the mirror. The bruise on your side is slowly healing. The bruise on your cheek is almost completely gone. The wound on your stomach is almost healed and starting to scar, the same for the wounds on your arms. Marcus appears in the doorway.
He walks over and stands behind you, gently wrapping his arms around your waist. You look at him in the mirror and sigh. You pull his arms off and he whines. You roll your eyes with a smile and kiss him.
"You have to get ready for work." You say and walk out of the bathroom. He sighs and follows. He walks over to his dresser and you walk over to yours. You change into jeans and one of Marcus' shirts. You look over to see if he's ready and see him standing there staring at you. He's in jeans and is holding one of his shirts. You blush and throw one of your dirty shirts at him. He dodges it, laughing and puts on the shirt. You walk over to him and punch him as you walk out the door.
When you get to the comic shop, Willie and Blaine are behind the counter. Marcus walks behind and you lean against the wall next to the counter. Willie is working the register and Blaine is reading a comic. Soon Marcus and Blaine start talking about comics so you walk over to Willie.
"Hey, Willie." You say as you stop in front of him. He looks up and sees you.
"Hey, Y/N. Here with Marcus?" He asks, setting down the clipboard he had been holding. You nod and hop up on the counter. You see Blaine give you a look and you hop off, laughing. Willie looks over and sees the face Blaine gave you. "He won't admit it, but you're growing on him. Do you remember when you first met each other?" Willie says and laughs. You laugh with him and remember when you first came here with Marcus. You had knocked over an entire display and broken some glass. Blaine had been pissed.
"We never speak of it again." You say and punch Willie on the arm.
"Hey, babe, will you hand me that?" Marcus asks and points to the comic on the counter next to you. Willie smiles and winks at you and you roll your eyes.
"Oh, sure." You say as you pick it up and walk over to him. He holds out his hand and you give him the comic.
"Marcus gotten you to read a comic yet?" Blaine asks as Marcus restocks some comics. You laugh.
"I've read one, but I didn't like it much." You say and Blaine laughs.
"That mainstream shit he likes?" Blaine asks. You nod and he laughs again. He reaches behind him and grabs a comic sitting on the counter. "Here. Read this. The love this guy dumped into his pages drove him to heroin. Heroin drove him to a gun in his mouth. That's a true artist." Blaine says. You go to reach for your wallet but Blaine stops you. "On the house. As long as you get this dumbass to read it too." Blaine says, grabbing Marcus by the shoulder as he walks by.
"Don't worry. I'll get this idiot to read them." You say, and stick your tongue out at Marcus. He laughs and goes back to work. You read until his shift is over.
