Eye contact was truly a terrifying thing.

For quite obvious reasons, I wasn't able to break the eye contact I had made with the Lycan from the very moment that he had taken seat at this table.

While I had to place a hand over my knees to prevent myself from giving into my instinctive flight or fight, he looked perfectly in charge of himself and his surroundings.

His gaze was unnerving and if any blissfully ignorant person looked at him right now, staring me down from beneath those hooded eyes, a finger grazing his lips, they would call him a predator for an entirely different reason. But predator, nevertheless.

I still had my phone clutched in my other hand, halfway through sending Yu Na a text. If I could just casually alter the message, I would at least have backup, incase he tried to pull something.

Then again, this was public property. Moreover Min Ri, Jin hyung, people I cared about were around, and I couldn't afford to be rash.

I decided to take the bait and break the silence. If this was a set-up, I would make sure to be the only casualty.

"Why are you here, Lycan?"

"Did you forget my name already?" He tsked, brushing invisible lint off his shirt. The only crease or crinkle on his shirt was the one caused from his muscles stretched taut against it.

"And you haven't even given me yours. Isn't name exchanging one of the very first steps during a blind date?"

BLIND DATE?

He was my blind date?!

"You're kidding. Min Ri wouldn't-"

But it wasn't that she would. It was because she didn't know the truth, that I had been set up on a blind date with a Lycan, out of all the possible supernatural beings I could have been paired with.

"Yes, your friend wouldn't. Not if she knew."

He gave me a pointed look.

"Are you threatening me?"

"Are you scared?"

This was going nowhere.

"Look here, Lycan-"

"I'm not an animal for you to keep addressing by my species, Huntress. I have a name."

I gulped, begrudgingly, from fear. For just a fraction, his eyes took a menacing primal look to them.

"Kim Taehyung, the both of us having been misled here. And I already have more than enough on my mind. I'm sure you don't have time to be spared, doing unproductive things either."

"Oh, of course not. I could be using this time to sniff out my brother's hiding place and slaughter him for what he just pulled."

That suddenly caught me off guard.

"You have a brother?"

I didn't intend for the question to be anything but a curious one, but his eyes narrowed at my mention of his brother.

He leaned over the table, agile and smooth like a serpent uncoiling to strike, until his face was so close to mine that I noticed his eyebrows were dark brown, as were his lashes.

"Don't even think about coming anywhere near my family. This is a threat. To you and your fellow killers."

I could feel my breathing speed up, and it wasn't because I was scared this time. At the word killer, the sight of Woo Bin's ripped up clothes, the blood on the sparkling clean floor. It all flooded my vision.
