chapter 2
(rose's pov)
as me and corinna slowly pull up in her car at this gate, she looks over at me and says, "i need to text natalie because the gate isn't opening." i hum out. "who's natalie?" im actually curious to know who natalie is.

"david's assistant." corinna is typing on her phone as she responds to me. i furrow my eyebrows, "jesus christ— he has a fucking assistant? yeah corinna he's really just as humble as you have been saying." i say sarcastically as corinna finally looks up from her phone, as a beautiful brunette in a jean jacket and some black leggings walks out to corinna's car.

i'm taken back.

"woah she's really pretty. is that natalie?" i ask corinna as she rolls down her window seeing the pretty brown haired girl approach the driver window.

"yep that's natalie, isn't she gorgeous?"

natalie ducks down to look in corinna's car. "say whattt?? stop flattering me rinna" natalie smiles as she looks over at me. "hi i'm natalie. aka the devils assistant." corinna slaps her arm. i laugh in response to what natalie just said and look over at corinna with a condescending look plastered on my face.

"natalie stop!! i'm trying to tell my friend rose that david and all our friends aren't bad at all. it's not really working when you call david the devil." corinna says with a slight grin on her face.

"ohhhh well yeah david isn't bad at all. he's like my brother so we joke like that a lot. i've known him since 7th grade and i actually love my job. i was just joking girl." she laughs and continues to speak to corinna before i have a chance to respond.

"so i'm gonna go open the gate. sorry i had no idea it was locked, thanks for telling me before a lot more people show up— oh and nice to meet you! rose?" natalie steps back from the car and stares at me with a slight smile on her face.

"oh yeah! rose." i say as i stop playing with the rings on my fingers. i smile back at the girl as she raises her hand and walks away.

we are finally able to walk to the front door, and right as we approach the door i see a tall guy with a cowboy hat and a beer in his hand walk out of the house. "CORINNA! BABY!" he yells with open arms. as he hugs corinna, she turns to me and introduces the guy with a huge smile on his face to me. "heath this is my really gorgeous friend rose! rose this is heath." i roll my eyes playfully and wave a small hand at heath. "oooh baby nice to meet you! i'm waiting for mariah. i'll catch up with y'all later."

well heath wasn't bad at all. his greeting seemed very genuine. i've always felt like i'm good at reading people. but after my ex boyfriend betrayed me i felt like i lost all those feelings. i thought i knew him and i didn't. so maybe my assumption of heath was completely wrong.

me and corinna walk to the kitchen, walking through crowds of people. we sit down on some white stools that are set up by a marble kitchen island. "well i guess what you see is what you get." corinna says as she takes an unopened water bottle off the counter and opens it. i crack a smile at her and rake my fingers through my long brown hair. "heath seemed nice." i say. i hope what i said was true. i'm tired of all the fake, money hungry, clout chasers. i need more real friends like corinna. "i'm really excited you are finally getting to meet my friends."
