look at the cards that we've been dealt, if you were anybody else, probably wouldn't last a day.

chapter 5 (rose's pov)
i wake up to the loud noise of thunder crashing outside my home. it never rains in L.A. but when it does, i absolutely love it. last night was extremely long and dreadful until david took me out to his favorite place with a gorgeous view. but sadly, it didn't last long. his friend jason called him and insisted on coming home for a "bit" ? so he just dropped me off at my home and i immediately fell asleep.
i lift my limp body off my silk sheets and set my feet on my cold wooden floor, and make my way towards my en suite bathroom. i look at myself in the the mirror and take off my makeup from last night. i slip out of my black leggings and soft brallette and open the glass door to my shower. i shouldn't be doing this because of the weather outside but i force myself into the hot shower. i reek of sweat and weed, even thought i didn't smoke.
i turn my bluetooth speaker and hit shuffle on my phone before starting the water.
my baby lives in shades of blue. blue eyes and jazz and attitude. he lives in california, too, he drives a chevy malibu.
i let the hot steam fog up my cool bathroom, as i wash my entire body. the hot water pouring down my small body is enough to make me pass out.
and when calls, he calls for me, and not for you. he lives for love, he loves his drugs, he loves his baby too.
i close my eyes and let the steaming water and soap do it's job. several minutes pass and i shut off the water faucet and step out of the shower. i grab a white towel hanging on a rack next to the shower and wrap it around my soaking wet body. after towel drying my hair, i grab my phone off my bathroom counter and walk back into my bedroom.
i press the power button on my phone and check the time. 2:45 pm david has sent me his phone number via direct message on instagram. i open the notification and add his number to my contacts as "david dobrik". i shut off my phone, and i make my way out of my bedroom for the first time today. taking slow, easy steps down my white tile, curved staircase. my staircase leads down into my tall foyer, with grey overcast shining into my large entrance through the blurred glass front door. i walk through my open spaced home and directly into my bright kitchen. i start making myself a bowl of oatmeal with fruit as i hear the loud doorbell chanting throughout my empty house. i start my body back towards my foyer and unlock the front door before opening it.
i see a tall familiar face standing in front of my with what seems to be my wallet in his hand. he stands there wearing a slightly wet black t-shirt from the rain, and black sweatpants. with a pair of red vans. "hi david." i say with a sweet tone in my voice because honestly i'm happy to see the man again. he grins as he looks down at me with my brown damp locks falling down my shoulders, as i realize i'm only in a towel. i gulp as i'm waiting for a response. he lets out a small chuckle and shakes his head at me. "you left your wallet in my car last night, rose." he hands it out to me and i slip the tan colored wallet back into my possession. i bite on the inside of my cheek out of pure embarrassment, and raise my eyebrows innocently. i need to go change but it's too late now. "thank you. i'm always losing my shit." he slowly steps towards me with a stupid grin on his face. "don't worry about it. it gave me an excuse to come see you." he puts his large hand on my fragile shoulder and twirls my dark hair through his fingers.
"a-ah okay. um do you—wanna come inside? i was just um—actually doing nothing." i know he can sense the embarrassment radiating off of me. he lifts his hand off my shoulder and places it on top of my hip and squeezes lightly, reassuring me. he lets another chuckle pass his lips once more. "it's okay. and yes i do."
