Here are two free verse poems written by me about how people wear masks and put up walls. (metaphoricaly)
She shows you what she wants you too see. Not what she needs you too see. She tells you what she wants you to know. Not what she needs to tell you. You think you know her from what you see on the outside. But behind the mask, deep down, the demons are winning. She’s dying inside.

She’s happy. You see her smile. You hear her laugh. Her nails are always bright, colourful, perfect. She’s always dressed in nice colourful clothes. You see her friends, she has many and is never alone.
He’s “emo, depressed, weird”. You see his black hair, that’s longer then most. You see his nails, chewed on with chipped black paint. You see his friends. He only has two or three and is always alone with his headphones in, book in hand.
You think she’s fine. You treat her normally. You think he’s not. You judge him for it.
